Brightest Day Conclusion (spoilers)

What do you guys all think of this?

Swamp Thing's origins have officially been stated and he's "back"
Firestorm is going to blow up in 90 days... possibly the lead in to the next event?

Hawkman, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Jade, Osiris, Maxwell Lord, Hawk, and the original Firestorm are all alive.

Hawkgirl, Professor stein? (Firestorm's mentor), and Boston Brand is dead.

The reason bright day happened was that...

When Swamp Thing was created he was imprinted with Alec Holland's psyche, but when Nekron tried to take over everything Swamp Thing was imprinted by Nekron.

The "quests" each of the people went on was to prevent a possible strengthening or weakening of each of the Swamp Things and/or to purify the corruption that they and the elements had gained.

Boston Brand had to die because >.> ummmm well the reason is the needed a pure body to resurrect Alec Holland, but then he should have already been pure using the logic of why Boston was pure... oh well.

Having become the avatar of life, the first thing Swamp Thing does is murder a bunch of corrupt businessmen. (John Constantine is not amused.)

I'm a bit annoyed that Hawkgirl stayed dead, but overall I'm glad that Jade, Martian Manhunter and others are back. Deadman getting killed was predictable, considering.

I'm just really glad I avoided Brightest Day altogether.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

I was surprised at how pleased I was at the reveal of Constantine's official return to the DCU proper on the last page. Maybe reintroducing he and Abby Arcane (is she still around?) to ol' Swampy will remind him of the sanctity of all life... though it seems pretty clear that all of the guys in that boardroom were scumbags.

Odd that in the White Lantern's eyes Hawk "failed" his mission. How exactly was he supposed to catch the boomerang, anyway? From what the Lantern said, it seemed like the plan all along was for Boston to die again saving Dove, so... what was the point? Ah well, at least Dove and Deadman can still talk to each other.

I agree it kinda sucks that after all Carter and Shiera went through in this series, breaking the curse that bound their immortal souls and all that, that he ends up losing her again. But I don't know... Swamp Thing seemed to indicate that she may not actually be dead, she just stayed as an air elemental for some reason. Their story might not be over yet after all.

Oh! And for anyone who also picked up the final issue of Justice League: Generation Lost... who else got excited about the last page??

My thought is that the White Lantern was setting up a situation where somebody either Hawk or Brand would step up and be killed by the boomerang. Granted, Hawk is supposed to stop the boomerang, but seems to me, that the White Lantern entity stacked the deck and made sure that Brand was there to take the hit just in case.

For me, the real question is "Why does Dove have to survive?"

I have a problem with this because how do we determine 90 days in comic book time? How long is that in real time?

And as I don't believe there's a forthcoming Firestorm book, where does this storyline get dropped into?

What was the point of Bringing Maxwell Lord back? It cheapens Wonder Woman's murder of him... or has that been retconned out of existence?

The JLI is officially back in business. New ongoing monthly series coming later this year. I are happy.

He has been brought back so she can or someone else can murder him again

With Boston, its hard to be Deadman, if well you aren't dead. I was a bit dissappointed by not bringing back Hawkgirl

When did Wonder Woman murder him? I recall her killing him when he mind controlled Superman, but I guess I missed the comic where she murdered him.
