Lore for Scrappers

I figured its worth starting a discussion as to what Lore power you have taken on your scrapper and why?

For me, I have yet to start crafting my Lore pets as I am very indecisive and hope that your insight will help others like me decide. I am currently evaluating my MA/SR right now which is soft capped at 45% melee/range/AoE defense with 20% resistance to smashing/lethal damage. My Alpha grants me 45% acc 20% defense and Interface grants me 25% -res 75% fire damage. I say this because your Lore pets are buffed from your Alpha and Interface slots.

I went ahead and included a summation of Dispari’s post about Lore pets with links.

For me I want with Warworks and intend to get the fighting Victoria

1) Warworks Ally
2) Warworks Core Ally *** currently at this level ***
3) Warworks Total Core Improved Ally
4) Warworks Core Superior Ally

I read that these were the highest damage set and since I went more defense on the other incarnate slots (interface -to hit debuff, destiny the defense/resistance buff) I wanted to go damage here.

I know some go for buff but since this pet has a long recharge and is only out for 5 minutes I just didn't see it as a reliable buffer so I am going for all out damage when they are out.

My reasoning regarding buff vs DPS is the same as Flower, with a 1/3 uptime I'm not big on the buff side so I go with the DPS lieut.

I first tried Seers for the ranged psi damage against highly resistant mobs - Statesman in LRSF, Hero 1 in LGTF, Minotaurs and Cyclops in the ITF, or even Longbow Wardens popping Unstoppable in regular missions. It didn't turn out as well as I expected. The Diviner runs into melee and dies quickly. The Seer only has one psi attack out of three - her Dominate doesn't do damage, and Levitate is smashing. Still useful for the intended purpose, but not so great by itself.

I'm now using Clockworks. Both stay at range and they have some AoEs. Damage seems decent, but not really impressive or reliable enough compared to my own damage, so I don't know.

(Edit: just noticed a fairly annoying problem with the Clockwork boss. His chain power is considered as a different source of damage, you don't get credit/rewards for the damage it does.)

I'll probably try the warworks next. With boss HP, the Victoria should be able to survive much better than the Diviner lieutenant, hopefully (I have Rebirth, so the extra HP is significant as it means the pet will regen that much faster).

Seers, cause they look cool, imo. That is all. I may get vic's for another for theme reasons.

I got my +1 with the rare and I'm done with this Power branch. Not really appealing to me at all beyond their ability to run interference, esp with mindwashed in BAF.

I went with the other branch of the Lore Seer tree, so maybe that explains why I have a completely different experience: Using the T3 Seers with the buff Lieutenant, I've never seen either of them even attempt to close to melee.

In comparison with what I'm reading about Victorias, the Seers damage ain't very good (added about 70 DPS to a Pylon run on my Dominator), but the Augur does have some control ability and a rare damage type. Absolutely PWNed Elite Boss Statesman in a Mayhem mission, for what that's worth.

For a Scrapper, I'm a bit torn. I know that people like to see their DPS number skyrocket, but for general purpose play I'm not sure it isn't better to diversify. As you point out, the pets are only available 1/3rd of the time, so there's an argument to be made that the pets are more like a quasi-panic button than they are a DPS supplement. The Seer tree seems to be one of the best options along those lines. Then again, the DEF component in the Seer buff pet's Fortitude doesn't stack with positional DEF, so that's worth considering.

Will have to experiment more with other Lore pets. Not sure yet what to take on my Tanker. He doesn't have an obvious thematic fit.

I have both T3 Warworks and T3 Clockwork.

I'm not sure which does more damage yet, most likely Warworks.

Rebirth might help, but in any real combat situation I've been in Victoria is dead way before the ACU - even though she has 3x as many hit points.

The ACU is often still alive at the ends of fights. I have the same experience with the Clockwork, they just hang back and fire.

In any situation where Victoria can be kept alive, she does a tremendous amount of ST damage - but she is very often dead. I use her for the prisoner escape because she puts runners down faster than a lot of players. But I use the Clockwork for other real fights.

I went clockwork for mine. I'm at T3 and have the invulnerable support pet. Mainly for its good heal. I also hope that they eventually change the defense powers so that they give positional defense in addition to typed, since the higher to-hit of incarnate mobs will make the extra 7.5 percent useful on my softcapped scrapper.

Yeah, Vicky is awesome but I'm really starting to like Clocks because they survive a lot longer. Since they're all ranged they do less running around and more attacking. Also, since they don't melee, they don't normally find themselves getting AoE'd to death.

So while Vicky may be more front-loaded in terms of damage, Clocks usually put out more damage in the long run, IMO.

I've got a T4 of both and switch off depending on the situation.

I personally went with IDF. Don't know if they've got good damage vs the others but they do pretty decent damage. I first went with the one that summons the little orb bot thing, and was going to get the t4 where the orb is untargetable, but I really don't need the buffs it provides.

Main thing I wanted to say here is I make a macro to help me get them fighting what I want, because my power trays are full and then some, so I made the macro so that when I hit my first attack in my attack chain, they'll attack my target without the extra button push. It might come in handy for any AT that isn't a MM, and used to having those attacks ready.

I got my T3 Warworks. I kind of forgot how low boss regen is compared to ours... Rebirth by itself isn't anywhere near enough to let Vicky survive against a pylon, sure enough she died in 30 seconds.

Of course, pylons have an AOE attack flagged as ranged, which isn't all that common against most AVs.

With the remaining ACU, I got a ~50 pylon DPS increase, going from 200 to 250.

In comparison, with T3 Clockworks, I went from 200 to 340. Seems fairly nice already.

That's exactly what happened with me.

Vicky ran in and died in seconds, ACU stayed for the entire fight.

Then I tried with my Clockwork and they lived the entire time.

I may be going with Warworks for Vic's damage output at T4. Most likely the combo of Vic and ACU.

Now I know Alpha slots show up on Lore pets. Did they remove the interface from pets as well?

My main has the Clockwork because it ties in with his backstory (which is constantly evolving as new canon elements are introduced)

I have no idea what my BS/DA is getting. Probably WarWorks.
