Need help restructuring my Nin/Nin
Considering I see a massive AoE Def in those numbers, be careful with those totals as if your Hide is turned on its giving you full value of Hide. Not its Def bonus for when your attacking.
So your not really softcapped by those numbers (asumeing full hide is in them).
Turn off hide, then add 1.88% (if you didn't slot Def Ench into hide) to the numbers you see. Thats were you sit when your atttacking.
You want to hit Soft-Cap Def with your stalker in Attack mode. (Melee and Range at least. Thiers debate about soft-caping your AoE as well. Generaly however if you dont soft-cap your AoE you at least want it in the mid 30s range still)

Thanks for the reply. With my current IO build, I drop considerably when out of hide as you noted. Your formula was right as I tried testing it with hide on and off, both values ended up to 25-27%, so I am indeed below the softcap for defense. Considering such an event, it probably would be best to drop the Teleport pool for Fighting.
However, I've considered another possibility to drop Darkness and swap back to Soul Mastery in order to keep one ranged and a hold move, having Caltrops being my wide-slowing move for events like BAF. Granted your formula, my defense out of hide should be around 37-35%. Soft-caped out of hide. And of course, Divine Avalanche with just one strike would bring me to soft-cap within melee parameters. With this aspect in mind, would THIS build should be a sufficient one?

Please dont take anything I am about to post as rude or nasty.
My personal view on these kind of biulds, If your not pushing for your softcaps then dont bother with purples sets. I see a couple of purple sets (some expensive ones) yet your biuld lacks softcap Def. Which really isn't to expensive to biuld towards with a Ninjitsu, especialy if your planning to put the influence into getting purple sets.
Caltrops I strongly advice going for the Proctrops route. That is slot it with Procs. Its one of the biggest bang for bucks I have found with Caltrops. Its slow component is already very high. if your crazy to 4 slot it, you can drop Ragnarok (chance for Knockdown), Positrons Blast (Chance for En Damage), Javelin Volley (Chance for Lethal) and Imped swiftness (Chance for Smash).
It turns Caltrops into a Death Mire, as things can't escape it quickly and are flopping around as they get eaten by triple procs. This is magnified even more with the new Incarnate Proc that can be added that will Proc off Caltrops for yet another proc.
Now Javelin Volley and Ragnarok arn't "cheap" but thier not bad in price. Ragnarok Proc goes between 40-60 million. Javelin I forget.. but didn't recall it being bad ether. Certainly for a 2 slot investment you could go Cheap.. and just do Positrons and Impede Swiftnesss procs. Both go pretty cheap in comparison. At the very least (1 slotting Caltrops) I really like Ragarnok Proc in it. Since it turns it basicly into a Ice Patch.
I dont have access to my Mids program atm, but when I do Ill post up my Stalker that doesn't use any purple sets. She hits 45% Melee, 52.5% Range, and 35% AoE Def with Capped Stalker Hps (1606... Her real total would be 1607). Shes a NB/Nin/WM.
Other quick thoughts....
4 slotting Mako's bites isn't bad for effect, but for 6 slots you gain the massive Def Boost from the set. (3.75% Range), especialy on AS were you 5 slotted it... At 5 slots ether swap it out for something like Crushing Impact or find the 6th slot to gain your Range Def boost.
The Biuld over all looks a tad End hungry to. My Stalker has those Defs without useing Manuver, Manuver is nice for more Def but its also more End consumption. And unlikie my Stalker your not packing Physical Prefection to help. So any additional End drain has to be be weighed vs what it does for you vs starviing your attack chains due to end (or worse Detoggling in the middle of a fight.. bleh).

I find your post very encouraging and look forward to your build for some inspiration. Like I said before, I've never thought ridiculously hard on my past builds which has been my problem. The philosophy "If I'm still living, I'm still good" carried me on the past few years but I felt it was time for a game-changer hence why I'm seeking help on the forums. Thanks for the post.
I dug this out of my Emails ... It's not my final biuld. But will give you a idea for now until I can copy over the final Mids biuld.
Other things that came to mind... the final biuld is just about 4 End/Sec Recovery, useing only .93 end/sec. So positive 3 End incoming. Perma Hasten, letting the Heal be up every 15 secs.
Ops I lied.. thiers 1 Purple set in Blinding Powder. But thats a fairly cheap purple set (most are cheaper then a Gold recipe).
Thats another thing to keep in mind, Blinding Powder besides it confusion, also has a -15% to Hit Debuff. So stacking that with your High Def adds an additional Layer or Protection.
Placate at 49 might seem strange to some.. but I really didn't have a good place to put it earlyer. As such leveling up this Stalker played a bit more Scrappish, since it didn't have access to Placate. But honestly.. didn't miss it much.

Thanks for the build, I wrote up my own draft for a build which I tried basing on your own although it didn't seem to deviate that much from my older ones. In total, I gain 40-42% of melee, ranged, and AoE defense out of hide. As always, divine Avalanche caps me over. I believe this is the build I would like work with though it has a 1.37 drain and 3.55 recovery, so a +2 instead of +3 like yours. I'd like to review some critiques before I decide to run with it though:

Mids protip: Options>Configuration>Effects & Maths>Suppression>Check "Attacked" in the list. Now your Defense values should be accurate when Hide is active but you're being attacked and you don't have to do it manually anymore.

I did another pass at my build and started looking at lower-level IO's, specifically Steadfast Protection for the +3% Def since there's no way I could afford a Gladiator's Armor. Along with some other adjustments, I may have actually solved my dilemma. This new pass yields 44.3% Melee, 42.4% Ranged, and 42.4% AoE Defenses with Divine Avalanche picking up the melee defense at 74.3% via 2 applications. Build is as follows:

Thanks for the build Ryu, I decided to do something of a mimicry and look at ALL the defense IO's to see what could get me the highest rating, though my stalker is primarily for PvE at the moment (don't have the skill for PvP >_>). This new and, hopefully, FINAL pass yields me some decent numbers. Final total is 44.4% Melee, 43.7% Ranged, 44.4% AoE. Resistance has been lowered to make room for GotA IO's which raises my recovery rate to 3.77/s at an end drain of 1.42/s, a net return of 2.35/s which I believe should be satisfactory. As always, looking for critique:

Couple questions, why are you using a defense debuff set or slotting for defense debuffing at all? The amount we get per attack is pitiful and it does not last long. Its better to go with damage sets. I can get that you might want some set bonuses but thats going to cost you more endurance in the long run since your using more attacks because your damage is lower. So in short any recovery gains pretty much get negated.
For the chance of knockdown proc, it works nice with caltrops when you can set it up with other procs for damage. It especially works well with even con and higher mobs since they just fall down right back into the patch. If you level shift however all it does is scatter the mobs. The level shift was the reason I respec out of this enhancement.
Kujin Rin needs two recharges no ifs and or butts about it, if you exemplar down the power will no longer be perma since you wont have the set bonuses to make up for the slotting. Better to have it and not needed it than to need it and not have it. Also if you get debuffed it wont be perma either.
Why are you taking a hold on a stalker? Its useless 99% of the time, the only time I would ever see a need for it is the LGTF and to be honest the team should have gotten a dom or troller and not rely on everyone else's subpar holds. If non-control archtypes got better durations on controls I could see doing this but stalkers do not get much out of controls unless its confuse or fear.

Hellish Thoughts Fire/PSI Dominator

I don't post a lot, and I've never had help or put a large amount of thought in my stalker's IO's since I've survived a lot of TF's with my build, but this recent update has had me at a razor's edge on my survivability and I think it's about time I got help. My stalker sits around 30-37'ish percent in defense, 30% being lowest out of hide, 37% being highest in hide. I've read a few posts around these boards and am assuming, if correct, that the soft cap, which I SHOULD be at, is 45%. Before I spend another respec trying to fix my problem, I would like assistance if plausible. My current build is as follows.

I've tried to divide my options into two paths. One path will keep my teleport and leadership abilities to provide myself and team some flexibility in terms of damage and stealthing missions. The other path is to sacrifice Recall Friend, Assault, and Tactics for the Fighting pool for Tough and Weave. On both builds, I've adjusted my defensive sets since I realized I hit way about the HP cap. Both builds will have IO's I intend to get but do not possess, I decided to just leave it there for the sake of planning. Builds are as followed.
