In Praise of the Endgame
I've not to try any of the endgame raids atm, but i am very much looking forward to it. The only trouble is that given I have a young son, the time that I am playing the most is when I've gotten up in the morning given him his feed and put him back to sleep. It's kinda difficult to find people to group with at 6:30am!
I guess what I am trying to say, is that it would be nice if there was some endgame stuff that could be solo'd and would earn you some incarnate XP. At the moment it's frustraitingly out of reach.
I have been playing COH off and on since the Beta. I'm at 63 months Veteran badges so I do take long breaks. I just came back for I20 and too am having a blast. It's re-energized my interest in the game and has given me goals finally for my level 50s. I am only doing one 50 in the Trials now, maybe I'll do an other or two. I like the Trials because they are fun, quick (except getting the team started sometimes), give new rewards and I get to see old players and SGs again (Hey Taser!).
I think I have only been on two failed Trials and have Tier 3 on all 5 slots. Maybe I'm just lucky. Or maybe /Rad is that good.

QR: I turned round to a player after having my *** handed to me several times by Marauder in my first attempt at Lambda and said "You know? It's nice to have some challenging content in the game again." I'm enjoying the hell out of these trials, faceplants 'n' all. Doesn't hurt that even failure gives you progress towards the slot unlocks, either.

2) I'm also enjoying the Trials so far although Lamda seems a bit intense for me thus far (I have yet to complete one).
3) The whole 'Earn progress despite failure' is the saving grace for the Trials. Even if I NEVER succeed in Lamda I can unlock and fill new Incarnate Powers. Just takes longer.
4) I LOVE the BAF! I've only been on about a dozen spread out over several alts but I've seen different tactics that please me. Pull to the Tennis Court. No? How about pull to the ADD spawn point. Wanna try for the MO Badges? Not this time how about next run? Oh and the best so far is 'Forget the doors we pile up on the two choke points and fry the escapees!' (Less lag doing it this way for some odd reason. Fun too).
Would I change a few things? Sure I would. Does it need tweaking? Sure it does. But Posi posted something on the Dev's board about cleaning up the 'Reward for Participation' thing soon so I'm confident.
My 50s are having fun again and that's all I care about.
"Comics, you're not a Mastermind...you're an Overlord!"
First trial I got in today, our eight-man team cleared Lambda with time to spare. Even with CC being horribly squishy in the sabotage phase, at least until I figured out my best strategy was to super jump the spawns. Next time I may just set her up outside to air guitar in Marauder's cutscene for all the good it did her.
But yeah, not impossibly tough at all if you know what you're doing. I would've done more, but I have a widow thiiiis close to 50 I want to get in on the action and the ITF was beckoning me again.
