Caemgen's MONTHLY Commission Contest

Greetings arties!

I have contracted with jazzcarmona from Deviant Art to get one piece of art done a month until... well, indefinitely really. Each month a co-starring role in this piece of art is going to be the prize for my monthly contest. Think of it as Paragon Team-Up, each month the art will contain one of my characters and one of the winners.

Jazzcarmona's art can be see in his gallery on his DA page (linked above) and here is a recent example of work he has done for me:

The contest will be relatively simple. Each month I shall pick a theme and a zone from in game and announce it. Anyone who wishes to enter just has to provide reference shots to the character they wish to see in the art, name which of my characters they should be teamed with, and provide a description of the type of scene they would like. Providing a link to a screenshot of the background they would like for the scene is optional but suggested.


To be a bit more specific though, I'll be looking for what I think would make the coolest picture. Strict adherance to the theme is not a must; the theme is more for guidance and ideas than a rule. Each month's zone will be featured though - I really like arts that are solidly grounded in game and I am a big fan of the backgrounds I have seen from jazzcarmona so far.

Scene: Cold Flake just hit Fenian with a cold blast and is knocking her back through the store window. (You can be more complicated and specific on the scene if you wish... Whatever you think will most catch my attention I guess.)

Each contest will start when I post that month's theme/zone in this thread. I will try to do it on the 1st but forgive me if I am late occasionally Contest will end on the last day of the month. The exact time will be when I feel like it so you should have your entry in by the second last day of the month


All art will be PG or cleaner. The artist has personal reservations about doing certain subjects and I shall respect those reservations. This means no nudity at all, not even hinting at it. I don't think it will be an issue but I wanted to be upfront about it. IF the chosen entry is for some reason rejected by the artist, the winner and I will work together to come up with something the artist finds acceptable. And if I see an entry that I think wouldn't be accepted I shall notify that entrant and they shall be allowed to change their entry.

One entrant per person per month. You may change or modify your entry at any time up until I decide to close that month's contest.

Each winner shall be ineligible for the next three months. After the three months of not being allowed to enter, they shall return to eligibility. Thus if you win in April you can enter again in August - being ineligible for May, June and July's contests

What I contracted for each month is two characters and a background. Keep this in mind. I can exceed the number of characters if I want to pay extra so if you think your scene is a sure winner but absolutely needs a third character then go for it... But it better knock my socks off as it'll be starting off with a mark against it.

It's raining here today which made one person at work that "April showers bring May flowers." Sappy and disgusting comment but it gave me the theme for the first contest. And since the contest is in it's infancy, so should the zone be...

Scene: Baleflame is an odd one, that he is. He is a sorcerer of flames and a cheesy gentleman. So, my idea was: Baleflame presenting Fenian flowers...flowers made of fire that he controls. He could be on his knees, grinning, or looming before here trying to present them with a blush and a big ol' grin. Perhaps a little ways away with Atlas Statue in the background.

OK, my suggestion depends on how playful Fenian is...

My Character: Ilario Scaldi

Background: the little park in the northeast corner of Atlas Park

Scene: Ilario sitting at the picnic table, looking bored and somewhat annoyed, with Fenian -cheerful as ever- gathering flowers. The flowers are everywhere, on the ground, on the table, in his hat, you name it.

(Ilario is always serious, which makes his name ironic because it means happy or cheerful in Italian.)

Background: The park in Atlas, where all those hellions like to hang out in, i can get a reference picture for ya once the servers come back up.

Scene: From the description of Gorm Diabhal I figure she'll be bouncing on (or around) the Assault bot (again, i can provide reference if needed, but i think http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/File:Mas...AssaultBot.jpg will work just fine) while Arbegla 2.0 is minding her own business on a bench creating a new device she (a magical flower that causing plants to grow at unnatural speeds)

No idea for a background scenery and what the characters would be doing lol. Don likes quiet moments reading books under trees but hates flowers and I guess Caemgen can playfully pester her in some way.

Oathy - Depends on what you mean by playful

For everyone, just as I'll let you know if your idea is something the artist won't do, I'll also give a heads up if you suggest something my characters just wouldn't do... Basically I don't want anyone to be DQ'd before we even begin..

Cy - you forgot the background scenery and what the characters would be doing...

maybe beyond the scope of this project/competition.

Yesterday, I got stuck in an elevator. I thought it was going to be even worse than a regular "stuck in an elevator" experience because there was one woman who was absolutely going to rage out over it. Eventually, she chilled out because no one was paying any attention to her. They were all on their phones posting "i'm stuck in an elevator " to facebook and twitter.

So "The Idea" is that a group of people are stuck on an elevator and using any of their 100's of powers would surely destroy the elevator and stick them with the repair bill. So grab a group of mine a group of yours and whoever else you want to hang out with in an elevator for 20 minutes with, while hank walks over from building services to let you out.

Maybe a few text bubble or thought bubbles to thoroughly explain the situation.

Some more specific thoughts. Gorm demanding a release through the emergency phone, hitomi texting away about the crazy blue woman, caemgen having ... thoughts, fenian facepalmimg...i dunno who else you can/want to fit in an elevator. There was 8 of us in a 5x6 box the tighter fit the more interesting the picture will be.

My Character: Minaret
Your Character: Caemgen
Location: Small park next to the Atlas Park Wentworth's
Event: Minaret & Caegen are battling one of the giant sized plant-type Devouring Earth. This being spring, it's naturally covered in small flowers. Since two guys beating up a flower isn't any fun, I picture it smashing one fist into Minaret's shield (sending out a spray of flower petals) while flinging Caemgen off with its other arm (knocking him out of the air or whatever).

I know DE aren't "native" to Atlas Park but the idea of the two brawny heroes battling a giant walking flower garden was too good to pass up on a technicality.

Seems there has been a bit of confusion, or perhaps I was not clear enough...

To be clear: There is NO RP REQUIRED for this contest. Nothing in game, nothing out of game. All that is required is some reference shots of the character, for you to select a co-star of mine and for you to set the scene - Be it the two fighting each other, fighting alongside one another or whatever. You can be as specific or vague as you wish...

Either way, no rp is required.

Scene: Fenian is sitting atop Atlas's globe and Gadget boy has just flown up and is offering her a rose (I assume this fits the theme)...she looks rather annoyed with him being so brash (Maybe even charging up a fist to nail him.)

I should really be doing something for the April FArt efforts, but I just can't get away from work for more than ten minutes. But I did want to throw a crazy idea out there, even if it is just for the joy of throwing a crazy idea...

My character: Airhead and his Reference Sheet.
Your character: Gorm Diabhal
Background: On the Wing of a Blimp, partly painted like an easter egg.

Scene: Airhead is painting the Atlas Park blimp to look like an easter egg, with rows of flowers and colorful stripes. Gorm Diabhal, a bit over 3' tall, is holding up two mostrous bunches of flowers for Airhead to use as reference. Airhead is holding a palette and brush. The roles could be reversed (perhaps easier to paint a blimp if you have wings).

Alrighty, last day for entries for this month... Likely as not I'll close this to submissions osmetime soon after the Friday Night Task Force so if you were wiating for the last minute, wait no longer!! I have a couple favorites in mind so far but there's nothing to prevent you from swooping in and stealing the prize for yourself!

This is an interesting idea, and proves I should spend more time in this forum than I do these days. I'll definitely keep an eye out on this thread and see about catching it a bit earlier next month

Also: Very nice reference pic up top in the original post. Sweet!

There were several entries I really loved and wish I could have done but I had to pick just one and I thought Xenophage's would best scream Atlas...

Having the art scream the zone won't always be a deciding factor but I thought it appropriate for the first one.

Xeno - I already sent the description and references off to the artist, if I need anything more I will contact you... And once I get a rough draft or such I will share that with you as well.

Really? How long has it been? I'm a bit suprised but I haven't been a customer long enough to know what his normal response time is...

Also, you positive the note sent? DA can be funny with notes on occasion... But if it's under the sent folder then I guess Jazz is to blame.

Anyway, you could always send a follow up note. I think he's worth the effort.

Out of curiosity, this Commission connected to your story?

Good! Then I think Jazz is a good choice, and more affordable than he should be

But... Err, you weren't looking for anything racy, were you? I know he has strict limits on what he won't do... Im not sure how strict, but he did refuse one commission from me because of his beliefs...

Though I'd hope he'd mention he couldn't take it and not just ignore it...
