Well Star Wars is pretty much done unless Lucas' kids take over and do somethings.

Star Trek is out of dylithium crystals/antimatter/gas as far as I'm concerned.

Firefly? barring a miracle I don't see that returning.

Lost in Space? yeah....right.

Stargate? finished

Forever Knight: long gone (reboot would be nice)

Highlander: reboot pending

Knight Rider?: Kitt's back in the garage.

Bionic Woman: reboot failed

Wonder Woman: reboot predicted to fail

Smallville? long in the tooth

Space 1999?: heh blow the dust off that one....

Airwolf: series crashed and burned in season 4 with the cast change.

Flash Gordon: series failed as I recall

Buck Rogers: not likely

Greatest American Hero: not likely to return

So given all the above, it's not unreasonable to hope for good things for TRON.

They've been trying for years to get out movies of Buck Rogers and Greatest American Hero. So far no go, but Hollywood is tenacious.

Actually you just listed a whole bunch of reasons why further TRON movies may -not- happen. If none of those other sci-fi/comicbook franchises are doing very well at the moment why would TRON fair any better? Based on how crappily things like Sy-Fy is handling things it's pretty clear that good science fiction titles are not automatically green-lit anymore (assuming they ever were).

Once again I wish TRON no ill-will. I just don't see how it's going to be all that much more likely to happen than anything else you just listed. Like I said before actors sign deals for future projects all the time. None of that ever guarantees that anything comes of it. *shrugs*

So hope for it all you want. Just be reasonable about your expectations for it.

I'm a fan boy also to TRON. TRON has a hardcore fan base and is very different from other SI-FI. Tron has the potential to appeal to all audiences. We have the action, fun and excitement for the kids; we also have the semi adult side with all the sexy costumes and get ups. You can go in so many different directions with TRON and that is what makes it so different. The first one was able to cram corporate corruption, dystopian rule, gladiatorial combat, religion, savior theme, freedom fighting and even a love making scene (see cut scenes on DVD). They only lightly touched on all this in just that movie.

The second movie still had corporate corruption, dystopian rule, and gladiatorial combat, loss in faith of the creator, conquest goals, and sacrifice, taking responsibility in life and folks who might have seemed good but were not. Once again many themes that were just scratched on in the movies. The 12 part mini series is a nice teaser , but I got a feeling, if done properly, and not with too much over hype, TRON franchise can go on for a very long time

Personally, I think CLU2 did send the page, but he was expecting Alan Bradley to come to the rescue. Which is why he was a little surprised at seeing Sam.

Remember that it was Alan who got the page.

It would be nifty if they got David Warner and Cindy Morgan back for part 3.

I see myself as witty, urbane, highly talented, hugely successful with a keen sense of style. Plus of course my own special brand of modesty.

Yes, I think Clu 2 was expecting Alan. Would have been kind of cool to see Alan digitized and looking similar to TRON while on the Grid. Imagine the reaction some programs would have if TRON's user arrived on the scene.

Would like to see David Warner CGI-de-aged so that we could have a Sark 2.0 running around. Even though the idea of a new Sark and MCP for a third TRON movie would almost seem more like a remake then a sequel; if the Dillingers are going to be the villains then expecting new MCP and Sark makes sense.

With they way technology has jumped and evolved since the day of the original MCP, imagine the damage a new MCP could do.

No need to reboot TRON. Plenty of stories to tell.
"Clearly" I'm pretty sure Zombie Man was making a joke. Still, if another TRON sequel doesn't get made within the next few years then yes, that'll probably be exactly what Hollyweird will do with it.

But, the more I think about it... if any movie needs a reboot, it would be one where computer architecture has advanced so much in 20 years that a movie based on leaping inside it would need to be redone.
Problem with that is that with the way computers advance at such rapid pace we'd be looking at several TRON reboots.
