Proper etiquette for over-inviting

I tend to send tells in 1-3 global channels and a /b in the zone where the TF or mission is forming.

Thus, I tend to see globals and locals. The problem usually happens when someone isn't available for an immediate invite (switching, not in a coop zone, in a mission, or market, etc). In those cases, I try to make sure I know their global and their local name of the player they will join with.

I can usually eyeball it that way. In addition to my primary chat tab which has team and private chat, I also have a special tab on my bottom chat window that just has private chat (I have lots of special tabs with just a couple things in them). I have another, which is just system chat on my top chat window. If I'm getting flooded, I tend to flip to the system and private tabs so I can just focus on tells and compare global/locals. I click on their name and convert to global or local, whichever is the opposite of what they put in there.

It's also a nice gesture to offer to run a second TF when you've finished the first one, in case those extra people couldn't find one and really wanted to do what you offered. If you're doing a speed run, it's even easier. As long as you tell the over-run folks what's going on, everyone is generally cool about it.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

I apologize to those who got there too late. I never leave something *I* organized because I made a counting mistake. I have never been b****ed at for it.

I have been on an attempted TF where the leader over invited and left to allow the 9th person a spot. As soon as the leader left, half the team quit, thinking the team was breaking up. So, moral of the story: don't do that, it confuses people.

I'm in this boat. When this happens, it has become "not the sf/tf I signed up for". To me, the leader quitting to give up his/her spot is the worst solution.

Global = Hedgefund (or some derivation thereof)

being that msot of the people I used to team with on a regular basis have left game, i am almost always forming PuGs for just about everything. I announce in channels and broadcast what level the TF is and how many spots i have and if we need specific ATs. If there is no level requirement, i always say all levels, all ATs. the problem i have is getting two ro three people. My problem is when people start flooding me once I have two spots left.

It is becoming more and more known, i take the first seven ready to be invited. thats that.

depending on what server youre on, most people are pretty accepting even if you do screw up the numbers and overinvites... I play on Jsutive and msot of the time when I do it... and I feel bad soemtiems especially if its someone i know, I usually get a tell back saying "np, i wait 30 secs and get in on the next one."

CMA and I and a few other regular teammates started up a TF, and we had two more slots to fill. All of us regulars were on Ventrilo together, which the two others did not know. The TF filled up.

One guy, let's call him MISTER, who was one of the PUG invites started sending tells to our leader saying that his buddy had just logged on. MISTER wanted the leader to kick one of the others so his friend could join. There was an entire series of tells where MISTER was explaining to the leader that various team members wouldn't be very good in not overly nice terms. What MISTER didn't know is that the leader was telling the rest of us over Ventrilo what was happening in the tells . . . and asking us what he should do. One of our buddies said, "Give me me the star!" . . .

and as soon as he got the star, he said, "I'll kick someone!" and he promptly kicked MISTER.

MISTER had a few choice words at that point, but the rest of us were laughing too hard to pay attention.

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

When I over invite, I drop off too. I can form another team.

But keep this in mind, time is everything in this game. First come, first serve is the best policy. I post status as I"m playing.

Example:

1.Manticore TF LFM, Pst for invite
2. replies come and I add them as they come
3. Manticore TF LF3M, LF2M, LF1M
4. Maniticore TF TEAM FULL - so everyone who is paying attention knows that team is full and to stop telling me.
5. If they come after that I reply quickly, Team Full, Sorry.

Ah yes, that was actually a normal mission, not a TF... I think it was on our first Pinnacle superteam. The idiot... I forget his name offhand which is probably just as well... kept going on and on finally saying "well kick someone to make room for my buddy" and so Carry hit the kick button on him just as he added "except me!"

It was a strange thing for him to be asking since I believe 7 of us on the team were all on one SG with him the odd man out. If I'm remembering right we were in the mid-20's running something in Talos.

I just mail 20M to the person if they actually zoned to cimeroa or rwz or whatever if I over-invite. I don't do it too often though.
