Trials & Praetoria
If I'm not mistaken, the trial codes actually force you to create a Praetorian first (the other options are locked until you create your first character).
But it might depend on the specific trial code. Older ones might not give access, but I don't know for sure. I haven't used one myself in a while, so hopefully somebody else will chime in and let us know.
I highly doubt it since not all players have access to Praetoria. If actual players can't access Praetoria without buying Going Rogue, then why should Trial players be able to.
The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.

Correct. Trial accounts start you as a Praetorian. I'm not sure at what point you "unlock" the hero and villain options, but it's either at the end of the "tutorial" or soon after that according to a friend in-game who started a second account a month or so ago by trial account.
If the trial account upgrades with a "vanilla" code, they can no longer create any Praetorians and cannot log into their Praetorians they've already created. Once they apply a GR code, access is restored.

Can people on trial accounts start characters in Praetoria, or are they limited to Paragon & the Rogue Isles?
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
