Just so you know, in your options, you can set whether you want bosses or not. So you can do x8 and not get bosses.
By 'demons', I assume you mean the one on blue side (CoT possessed scientists, I think?)? The various versions of the Battle Maiden map, IMO, are much better to run. Redside, Lib TV is good if you can stomach Nemesis with insanely stacked Vengeance. Different builds are better suited to different maps, my Fire/Kin can fairly easily handle BM's map, and I occasionally run it just for some fun (usually I get 1/2 - 1 run before I get bored if solo).

The redside Demon Farm is Possessed Scientists on a cargo ship, offered by Tavish Bell.
The blueside Demon Farm is a defeat all full of Praetorian Infernal's demons (clone of CoT Behemoths).
Neither has ever been nerfed to my knowledge.

I have a BM map on one of my characters but I rarely run it. The mobs seem to enjoy running back and plinking with their crossbows too much. Even the Council World map is better for getting guys to politely bunch up and get AOE'd and those guy have actual respectable ranged weapons.
It's the BM map on the ruined city map with Battle Maiden and the clicky weapon rack, if that makes any difference.
I run the blue side demon map on 0x8 with no bosses regularly for shards and purples and have very good results, but as others have said, the best farm map for you will vary depending on your build.

My buddy and I play run story arcs with our lowbies on weekends and during the week when our schedules don't match up I (unable to find a less offensive word) farm.
I'm currently doing +1/+4 on the demon map. What setting should I have to get as many minions as possible without bosses? And is there a 'better' mission to run that isn't AE? I've had people tell me it's a lame map after the nerf, but I've never done the map before it so can't compare
