What AC to solo the praetorian arc?

Depends on what class you're playing. Starting out, if you're a front line melee type, you'll want to start with probably a 15 or 16. If you're a magic user, you'll have buff spells, so you can get away with a much lower AC. I'd still go for a 12 or higher though.

By the time you're level 20 I'd say you want close to a 40 on a melee type (including druids/clerics). If you're an arcane spellcaster it doesn't really matter, since if things are targetting your AC, you're doing something wrong.

Don't make me smack you with my THAC0!

Edit: I just dated myself. Darn!

If you were to use the table to hit armor class 0 you'd want to build a melee to have as low an AC as possible. -10. Which is AC 30 in 3rd and 4th edition, which isn't impressive at all. No, kids these days compete at -20 to -25 AC. Dang whippersnappers. In my day, you had a -10, were hit on a 2 or higher on D20 by everything anyways, and you liked it!

(Sidenote, 4th edition is my favorite edition and I've been playing since 86. Once its splatbook cheese catches up to 3rd edition levels, which killed 3rd for me, 2nd edition will retake its place as my favorite.)

Weight training: Because you'll never hear someone lament "If only I were weaker, I could have saved them."

2nd Edition? Whippersnapper. My original 1st Ed books (and bluebook basic box) are on my gaming shrine.

...and I'm sure there are those, older yet, who are part of what came before my time.

Current primary characters, all on Guardian:
The Amber Fist (Elec/Stone Tanker) | Pixelbeater (Fire/Kin Corr) | The Sequencer (Bots/Traps MM)
Blakkat (Claws/Dark Brute) | Mhogus'thra (Ill/Dark Cont) | Wyldhunt (Beast/Dark MM)

I just did the same thing from L1-20 solo on a Mind/Fire dominator.

I focused heavily on the Mind Side, only picking up Flares, Fire Blast and Embrace on the way to 20.

Mesmermize, Levitate, Dominate, Confuse & Mass Hypno from Mind.

Also grabbed Stealth at 6 and CJ along the way.

You can completely control and disassemble small groups, and facing evn most EBs solo is a non-issue.

Most fun I had playing in Praetoria.
