Vigilante And Rogue Content

This suggestion is nothing complicated, but I think would help with some folk's goals of in-character play options.

Simply put, add Vigilante tips in the Rogue Isles that let them 'clean up the place'. Have them work with longbow, topple criminal plots, and take Arachnos and the other lawless scum of the Rogue Isles down bit by bit.

Add Rogue tips to Paragon. Let them rob banks and cause mischief. Have them fight heroes and let them plunder the fair city of Paragon. That's something I'm sure a lot of villain players have wanted to do outside of Mayhem missions since City of Villains came out.

If you really want to get crazy with it, how about adding a special contact (like the radio/newspaper contacts) specifically for Rogue and Vigilantes. Have a Longbow contact in the Isles with knowledge of criminal activities they need stopped by an 'outside force'. For Rogues have a sleasy underground informant they can meet that knows the 'ins and outs of the city' "Hey, the museum is getting that shipment of gold and jewels for that exhibit they're doing next week. I happen to know when they're going to be in transit...".

I just think heroic Vigilantes and fiendish Rogues should have a larger scope available to them than a transitional alignment. For a number of character concepts these alignments fit far better than the straight up Hero or Villain, if just because someone has a villain that wants to terrorize Paragon, or a hero who wants to help make the isles a better place. As it is, I can run Vigilante missions all day and get a nice merit boost every couple of days... In Paragon, but if I wanted to stay in Paragon, I could have stayed hero.

I know I could (and do) Run Paper/Radio missions and kind of fill in my own blanks, but I just think the Rogue/Vigilante experience can be a whole new way of playing the game too.

Thanks for your time!

I couldn't agree more.

The way I see Rogue tips would be finding out the Family is getting ready to smuggle some pricey good illegally, the CoT are amassing magic power for some mondo-strong spell or the Council had uncovered some valuable info about someone and you basically swoop in to take it for yourself, beating up the 'bad guys' while you do it. All so you can have what they have (or take away something you can't get). Having a Rogue jump into a bank to rob it sounds more like villain fair.

That said, I'd enjoy some support for the Vigilante/Rogue aligned characters and would support any ideas that expanded this or differentiated it from other alignments. So, give me a reason to be one over the main ones, yes.

I was thinking maybe a kind of 'custom contact' mechanic would be cool. Start out by having some missions that introduce you to certain contacts that will give you one-off missions and when you find the one that you 'favor', you simply *tell* them they're going to work for you.

Choosing a contact would be cosmetic, as they start off giving you the same type of missions. The difference would be the type of dialog you have with them. Choose the hard-@** gruff cop, the sleezy alley rat, the scared stiff reporter, the cryptic sorcerer, the questionable scientist, etc. Give the missions several dialog choices with different ways to treat your contact so being 'nice' to them will get you certain tips/arcs, 'serious' will get you something else and 'mean' will get you other choices.

Eh, just an idea I had while picking up Rogue tips. Anyway, OP has my support.

Thing is it has to be something the natives can team with you to do.

Rogues could receive information about a possible job or heist that just happens to involve opposing villains or contributes to a greater good.

Vigilantes could receive information about criminals that happen to be rivals of villains too.

A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!

I would love to see Rogues and Vigilantes be able to do alignment confirmation Tips to remain Rogues or Vigilantes. I would also like to see some R/V specific zones and some zones they cannot enter. . .

Actually, you can do that! Vigilantes have to do it in Paragon, Rogues have to stay on the Isles to do it, but you can continue to run tips and get morality affirming missions at every 10. Just like heroes and villains.*

The first time you do it, it's 30 regular merits, every time after it's 60 merits. It's a good way to build regular merits fast for those things hero or villain merits can't buy. Get those every other day and a few story arcs/TF/SF's and you have a considerable sum to work with too.

I just wish Vigilantes had the option to do it in the Isles, and Rogues in Paragon, as well. Having them stay on the same side to run their tips kind of defeats the purpose of being a Rogue or Vigilante. Sure I could make my Vigilantes Villains or Rogues to run tips over there, but that kind of defeats the purpose of my desire to help the citizens of the Isles, or have my Rogues reign terror over Paragon.

*Edit: The only tips you can run on the opposing side assume you are switching sides and allow for no other options (Vigilantes in the Isles get Villain conversion tips and Rogues get Hero conversion tips in Paragon.)

I like it. I want to have all Vigilantes and Rogues so I don't have to swap toons to do something, when I'm obviously on the toon I feel like playing at the time. So, anything to make it more worthwhile to do so is a bonus. Good idea.
