BS/SD Scrapper idea

I made a newer character based on a paladin I played way, way, back in World of Warcraft. I was surprised at the turnout, so I ended up making her.

All positions are at softcap, so Parry was dropped for Slash at the end. However it will be used (And abused) from 8 to 50. The Achilles's Hell proc is in Slice, part because I had no where else to put it and slice is a fast recharge AoE attack.

No travel powers in the build, just going to use Ninja Run. Also it will have Aid Other, Aid Self and Resuscitate, AS slotted as a self heal and AO slotted decent enough to maintain the healing paladin concept. Res will stay with the one slot. Also going with the Cardiac Alpha. Spiritual or Musculature would mean more damage, but Cardiac will keep endurance issues down.

One With the Shield is in as an 'oh nuts' button. Grant Cover is at the end and will remain turned off unless I am on a team or need the defense debuff resistance.

All in all, I liked how it turned out. I might be awhile, but I think I'll love building this toon in the game for real.

I feel like an idiot...

Phalanx Fighting was turned off and I never noticed... >.<

Well that means I overhauled the build a bit, moving slots about to boost a few other points since I didn't need as much excess defense. The purple sets are going to come VERY late, and are 'when I can'. Everything else mentioned ealrier still applies.

While I'm looking over the build, post a screenshot of this character! I'm interested in the look you've given them.

Maybe sometime if I can...

Think of a Gold Silver Valkyrie Costume with the gloves, boots and belt at the non-wings setting, smallest Valkyrie shoulder pads and the Valkyrie cape. Has the helmet wings that are closer to the helm. Once I can do ITFs on her she'll have a gold and silver Rommy sword and a Roman shield, plus the faceplate swapped from Valkyrie to the larger roman one.

Okay, got a screen shot of her now for you. Mind, she doesn't have any of the ITF costume parts I want to finish the look at the moment.

I'd keep on Grant Cover, as it gives you Defense Debuff and Recharge Debuff Resist.

If this character is going to progress through the Incarnate abilities, I'd drop the Medicine Pool and instead pick the Destiny Incarnate power Rebirth. It can be upgraded to be a large area heal that also gives large amounts of Regeneration. You can even upgrade the power to be perma on the Regeneration. With those power picks and power slots freed up, you can focus on other aspects of your character.

I wouldn't skip out on Parry because there are enemies that have +Accuracy/+ToHit. To counter those situations a Broadsword/Shield Defense character can build up an incredible amount of Lethal/Melee Defense.

Use of Enzymes and Membranes in Active Defense is recommended for a higher end build, to give better Defense Debuff Resist. If you double-stack Active Defense, you should be very close to the cap that most (except to Base Defense) Defense debuffs should not affect you in any meaningful way.

Do you know what your attack chain will be? Perhaps you could switch over to the Spiritual Core Paragon Alpha ability to get you a good attack chain going.

If you'd like some ideas, although expensive, here is the build I have set for Valkyrior and Shadow Knight:

Attack chain would be Hack > Head Splitter > Hack > Disembowel. It probably has a gap in it, but it's a chain that I would be satisfied with for that build.

Very nice. I went for a Judgement (yes, the ooooold armor set) look with a Sword and Shield of Light.

I am actually in the process (currently 35) of making just about the same toon, but from an old school Final Fantasy reference/take on the Paladin instead of WoW, although probably similiar I imagine. Haven't made a build but i was going for the medicine pool as well and using ninja run.

Its fun as heck, and i plan on lookin at both of your builds for ideas. I'll probably take all the attacks and weed out parry and maybe one other once he hits 50.

Also, what kind of recharge is required to have AD perma double? I was plannin on slotting 3 of the def/rech hamis in it, but not taking hasten. Probably going with cardiac, although spiritual seems alright, and have been toying around with one that boosts defense for easier IO'ing.

Also, also, tried to copy paste a pic of my guy but coudln't get it working right.

It can be upgraded to be a large area heal that also gives large amounts of Regeneration. You can even upgrade the power to be perma on the Regeneration. The medicine pool is there for the character concept. And as I don't have the Destiny Slot, I'm not going to bother until I can get it.

Also I have a second build for her if I can get the +3 Def PvP IO, which would let me drop Maneuvers and pick up Super Jump. The end cost will be low enough, then, that I can switch to Spiritual without worrying about End issues too much.

I am loving your builds doc and bass. I'm trying to get one similiar to doc's, with aid other/self/rez, and also either conserve power or FA and physical perfection. I think with PP, with a Perf shifter proc in it, I'd be able to go spiritual and not have to worry about end problems as much, and get more rech in my heavy hitters. The build im posting is a work in progress, so be gentle, but critique please. Its close to the def softcap. It doesn't have as much rech as either yours. I dropped an attack, but figure I can use slice when needed to fill wholes in the chain, maybe. I'm doing the same thing as doc with the medicine pool and no travel, although I will cheat with a jetpack when needed tho. Ideally I would like to be 45% to def positions, and have some more recharge in there, while keeping the same power picks, or close to them. Also, I'm trying to stay away from purples/pvps as of right now. After I get an initial build maybe a while from now i'll purp/pvp him out for better maximum slotting.

Any notes would be awsome

Sorry to repost after my own, but 3 slotting pounding slugfest into hack will take care of my defense. 47 melee and 45.1 to ranged and aoe. AD has a 10 second lapse from being double stacked, I think. End looks decent I guess.

Two things I could use a hand improving, while keeping softcapped:
Recharge could be a bit better, although I think with spiritual it might be enough to get a good attack chain out of my attacks

Slotting for aid self and heal other could be better. Prob wo'nt use either that much really, and with spiritual the heal part is already partially enhanced.

Any notes would be appreciated.

I love the look of the BS/SD toons and the concepts.

But the resisted lethal damage makes me sad? I ran my Kat/WP on a +3/+8 Council mish last night and I was only hitting some of the mobs for maybe 180 with Golden Dragonfly outside of Build-up and crits. That's not even talking about the robots that heavily resist lethal. Urg.

If only War Mace had better models and Brutes got crits lol.......

(sigh)

This old chestnut again?

If you run tip missions, for example, S/L is awesome. Steer for carnies, avoid malta. All level 50 content resists something well, learn your enemies and maximize your abilities.

...which mobs, exactly? War Wolves?

Heck, I wish all the weapon sets would get some new models. New axes, new maces, new swords, new daggers. Come on, how hard is it to kit-bash some new looks? How about glowing weapons? Transparent ones? Animated ones?

I want an axe with the "gear head' look of the Nemesis Staff, for example. Maybe I'd finally make my elec/axe steampunk brute-bot I've been pondering for so long.

S/L are the most heavily resisted types in the game. Sucks, but what can ya do?

Just keep going at it though, you can cut past anything in the game, given enough time. And support. And Insperations. And IO Sets. And temp powers. And...

I don't disagree. It just somehow feels like Lethal is resisted more. I know that's probably not true but it's how it feels.

Here's my 50 scrap using Golden Dragonfly (slotted with 5 Armageddon's except Damage IO) vs. Council, compared to my WM Brute (Shatter slotted with Oblits and Clobber with Mako's).

-----------

Your powerful Golden Dragonfly hits Equinox Parasite for 183.04 points of lethal damage and reduces their defense!

You Clobber Equinox Parasite with your Mace for 297.49 points of smashing damage.
You Shatter Equinox Parasite with your Mace for 235.16 points of smashing damage!

---------

Your powerful Golden Dragonfly hits Equinox Adjutant for 183.04 points of lethal damage and reduces their defense!

You Clobber Equinox Adjutant with your Mace for 295.65 points of smashing damage.
You Shatter Equinox Adjutant with your Mace for 232.75 points of smashing damage!

---------

Your powerful Golden Dragonfly hits Vortex Cor Leonis Grenade for 135.16 points of lethal damage and reduces their defense!

You Clobber Vortex Cor Leonis Grenade with your Mace for 297.75 points of smashing damage.
You Shatter Vortex Cor Leonis Grenade with your Mace for 234.63 points of smashing damage!

---------

So for some reason, smashing and other dmg feels stronger. I ran some other toons as well but they were all level-shifted, whereas my WM and Kat toons are not.

This is on +3/+8. Brute had around 75%-85% Fury from being surrounded by 8 mobs.

Did anyone have a chance to critique my build any? Here is the latest minor revisions...

He is 47% melee, 45.1% ranged and aoe, with spiritual alpha. Once tier 4 is obtained I think he will have a decent chain just using hack, disembowel and headsplitter, although I might have to throw a slice in there, do'nt know from looking at numbers.

I've also thrown around the idea of using parry for melee defense, which would probably allow me to slot for more recharge. The only thing about this is that melee set bonuses seem the easiest for me to get with obilts and touch of deaths. I love the oblit set so do'nt mind 6 slotting it, and am also glad I didn't have to use any ToDs. My DDR is at almost 90%, with a 10 second period where its only 60 some, so thats pretty good I guess.

Please any notes would be awesome.

Looks good to me. I'd switch Focused Accuracy for Conserve Power so that you can have something to fall back on in case you get hit by some -Recovery or even as a recovery ability after One with the Shield crashes. You won't be needing the Interrupt IO in Aid Self, so instead put another Heal IO in said power. That makes the HP/sec of that power about 7 more, as opposed to putting a Regenerative Tissue proc in Health, which would be about 2 more HP/sec.

Yeah im kind of torn between conserved power and focused accuracy. Both of them would be situational, as I won't be running FA all the time. I guess it comes down to which one would i encounter more, -recovery and sapping(that would get past softcap) and to hit debuffs, or hard targets for that matter.

Thanks for the notes. I'll prob end up 2 slotting numi in aid self then for the nice regen bonus.

And to the OP, I pretty much put your build in a blender with Bass's, threw in a lil of my ideas, and got my build, so thanks to you too.

I would just put some hami's in AD like someone else said, and switch the steadfast proc with the resist IO in true grit, gets another percent or so of resist out of it. Not really a big deal but helps a bit. You do'nt get as good resist out of OwtS that way though, but I generally don't use it too much.

My guy is a hair under 40, got his rularuu sword, and one mroe ITF and his nictus shield will be equiped.

From a BS/SD "angel"-type I have to say, very nice work on the costumes.

O.O

How... "large" are we talking about here?

(Note to self: Stop agonizing over a half percent on builds until you've seen the new stuff).

I am currently using: [Rebirth Radial Epiphany]

It degrades over time, but at the most degraded portion of the buff my perma-HP capped DM/Inv Scrapper gets 46.10HP/sec. The buff lasts for 2 minutes and is on a Recharge time of 2 minutes, unaffected by any +Recharge or -Recharge. For half of the duration (1 minute) I get 72.81HP/sec or more. Lets also not forget that it is also a heal at activation, healing me 1139.43 HP.

Oh, and at the beginning I get 233.04HP/sec for 10 seconds.
