Ok im at the end of my rope ill take any secondary the devs want to give a blaster . ive been beging for a MA clone ive been asking for dark assault you name it ive asked for it ,at this point ill take any thing new
I really dont understand the rules for blaster secondaries . i thought it was basicaly ranged primary /mele secondary sprinkled with a few utilites
makeing sets like ma ,ss ,dark mele a possiblity i would even take a clone of the dom stone assault !

Well I did hear that brutes were getting ice and defenders were getting fire from a friend in game(but I don't believe it). So if they are being proliferated maybe the other archetypes will get some love.

Blaster secondaries are odd. They seem to provide a pretty big melee component to what is supposed to be a ranged toon. Almost as if *they* want you to blap!
Makes for a catch 22...building defense for a blaster is a chore. Let's say you softcap your ranged defense; what good are you gonna do in melee range, other than provide veng bait? But if you softcap melee defense you're taking big risks at range, which is where you're supposed to be.

Love blasters, but there needs to be some love applied. After all, they made it easier for defenders to solo, and that's an AT I don't think was ever meant to be solo friendly.

Supposedly blasters solo just fine. I suspect that statement used fine in a way most people wouldn't. My own feeling has been the AT needs real mez protection. A mezed blaster has on the order of 1/10 the survivability of an unmezed blaster which puts them well behind all the other "damage dealer" ats in the game.

I still like the idea of having Aim and Build Up both be usable while mezzed AND having them grant mag 6 protection to immob, kb, stun, sleep, hold, terrorize, and confuse for ~12 seconds.

Do the same for Full Auto and Hail of Bullets, maybe shorten the duration to ~8 seconds.

Give TD a steady on Mag 3 or 4 protection to hold, sleep, and stun.

well, defiance is a really good start. you can still kill things while mezzed, albeit slower. its certainly possible to kill the culprit before you die. perhaps the self to-hit buffs could be added to the defiance list. you could build up and hit flares a couple times. it would speed up the killing of that rascally mezzer.

come to think of it. what if mez resist was all one? what if you didnt build up individual resists or immunities, but the game considered you simply mez resistant by a certain amount. it would mean that you could build for it with io sets.

Neither of those would be bad at all. Domination is a very nice mechanic. For full auto and hail I assume you would want the duration to start ticking after their animation ?

There are no rules for blaster secondaries--except the tier 1 has to recharge and activate in a certain amount of time due to defiance. And most tier 1's are immobs except for /energy. And sure, /fire and /elec are very similar in nature overall, but /Ice and /Mental play completely different from the others and /devices and /energy are each very unique.

But, yes, I too would love to see more blaster secondaries: /Rad Manipulation, /Dark Manipulation (and Dark Blast primary), a martial arts secondary of some sort, and I would even like to see a psy or mental APP set.

A /TA secondary would be very much welcomed by me. It would make a really good Natural thematic pairing with Archery/. I wouldn't even complain if it was paired with MA to flesh out the set.

Id' like a natural, or semi mystical feeling knife-toss secondary, with a mix of martial arts kicks and a bit of stealth. The immob could be that infamous ninja move where they throw a knife into your shadow, freezing it in place

But we'll most likely get Kinetic melee instead, like that Powers Division guy you fight on Reeve's tournament, the rival what's-his-name En/Kin guy.

wow !! so in my jealous rage i rolled a sonic /mental blaster an i take delight in beating the snot out of those kewl npc's "Make me look bad huh ?!?!"

I remember Castle saying at one point that any new blaster secondaries would follow the pattern of Mental Manipulation, with more emphasis on utility powers and less on melee attacks.

However, I don't know if that still holds true now that Castle is no longer working for Paragon Studios. I'm going to assume it does until I hear otherwise from Black Scorpion or Synapse (the powers guys)
