Weekly Strike Target Sundays - February 20th

I'll take the blame for the instability. FYI, I had been playing all weekend and the slow zoning made my weekend totally frustrating despite repeated reboots but thanks for your patience through all of this. I apologize sincerely but since I did win the Double D auction I should be able to hold it together next time :-)
Ooops. Guess I shoulda taken some pix.
Our two runs were 56 mins and 49 mins, I think? A few of us did another two runs tonight, and I slept thru the last one... woke up to Tax from J-Force walking around me in RWZ... The two runs were riddled with bad luck. One player quit accidentally, another had nasty instability, we got bugged on the Rider mish, forcing a team rebuild... |
Not sure I understand the question. Are you asking if you will be ok running your 50 with standard IO Enhancements or if we think you should slot in IO's with bonuses for the TF? or are you asking something else?

I thought the third build was for when you play lower than 50.

The third build is for whatever you wanna do with it, honestly. It was given to all players to allow for an alternative, non-Incarnate-dependent build without screwing up a player's already existing two builds, but it doesn't mean you HAVE to use that build when you SK down.

When I SK down, I just use my primary build that has the Alpha slot. It doesn't work, but I'm used to how the power management goes with that build, so it's easy for me to adjust. 'sides, I don't have the funds to work up another purp build.

When I first got it I used it just like you said...for whatever I wanted but when I read about why they gave it to us, they specifically mentioned lower than 50 play. But back to my original play, will my powers work or will I need to respec?

With IOs, I know the bonus works still but I'm not sure about the powers.
With Enhancements, I know they will be useless at the lower level.

While exemplared, characters lose the use of all primary, secondary, and pool powers that are more than five levels above their exemplared combat level. (Accolade powers, temporary powers, veteran rewards and prestige powers are not affected by this, even if they have minimum levels.) The exemplar does not lose the benefits of enhancement slots gained above that level; however, all her enhancements may provide universally reduced benefits depending both on how high her actual level is and how far down she is exemplared. Also, the character may lose some or all Invention Enhancement Set bonuses it has. |
You will lose whatever powers you picked 5 levels above the combat level.
You will lose whatever set bonuses are granted by enhancements higher than 3 levels.
Your enhancements themselves will still work, but possibly slightly less effective: ParagonWiki: Exemplar Effects on Enhancements (but performing a respec wont change that)
If that still doesn't answer your question, I hope the two links I provided will.
I'd say you don't need to respec unless you fouled up a previous respec (or during leveling) by picking a handful of "junk" powers before you chose "useful" ones. The easiest thing to do is just EX down and see what powers you still have available to you and make a decision from there
To add more about the 3rd build:
The reason that losing the Incarnate slot while EX'ing prompted the need for some people to have an extra build is basically for people who use the Incarnate enhancements to Compliment their build, rather than Supplement it. For example, some players will use Cardiac as their only End Reduction and use the actual enhancement slot on the power for another aspect of the power instead (or free up the slot to be used on another power entirely). This can give you the most out of the slot (rather than selecting an aspect that is already slotted at ED-cap), but it would also cause the Endurance consumption to be really horrible while EX'd, so it'd be useful to have the extra build that still have End Reduction in those powers.
In short, if you didn't build the character while taking your Incarnate bonus into account, then you probably don't need to respec or use a separate build for EX'ing either.
Thanks for helping guys, I was working today and do not get time at work for the forums or much of anything really. About to go buy the Animal Pack now that I see it's come out. =P

I forgot about that little tidbit. Thanks for the enhancement/IO comments.

This means: You will lose whatever powers you picked 5 levels above the combat level. |
I still don't understand how a 50 enhancment can be useful at lower levels but I'll reseach that on my own. I use IOs so this is not a pressing issue for me.
I bought the animal pack today too but I won't look at it probably until the weekend. Too much going on this week.
It doesn't matter if it's an SO or an IO. They don't become invalid just because you are EX'd, just like they wont expire if you SK up.
To give you a personal example: I have a purple proc (To Hold) in my controller immobilization power and it was firing off during my Sister Psyche TF

Two things to add regarding that statement..

You don't lose the proc aspect of IOs when you EX down, and you also don't lose set bonuses from Purple sets.
