How to change the CoH desktop icon?

I dunno if this is the right place to post this question, or if the tech section would be better. But this is "Player Questions" and I have a question, so I figured I'd ask it here.

I'm talking about the desktop icon that has a blue background and Statesman posing proudly at us. The one that refers to cohupdater.exe. I want to change it.

When City of Villains was released, it had its own icon, which was simply the CoV logo on a white background. The file associated with the icon also had a different name (covupdater.exe), probably because it was considered a separate game back then.

With Going Rogue, the DVD itself has a different icon (the Loyalist icon). However, the CoHupdater.exe icon is the same as the original icon. I want to change that icon to the "Loyalist" icon. Is that even possible? If so, how?

Right click icon, Properties, change icon button. Should be in there. It's there for me.

Guess I should've mentioned I'm on Windows Vista. There's no "Change Icon" button when you right-click on the icon.

You skipped a step. Right click the icon, select Properties, then click the "Change Icon" button in the dialog box that appears.

If you rightclick on a shortcut and click properties, there should be a place to change the icon somewhere in there no matter what OS you are using.

The key is.. if you are using a shortcut, and not trying to change the updater itself.

I don't want to change a shortcut. I want to change the icon of the updater itself. I'm using a program called "ObjectDock" and for some reason whenever I put link to a shortcut, it ignores whatever icon the shortcut is and uses the icon of the actual program itself.

Eh, I figured out a workaround to my question, but thanks for the assistance.

A shortcut to a shortcut is actually just a copy of the shortcut, which points directly to the program, which is why it uses the program's icon by default.

I installed GR last night to my new computer via the online client, as I figured it'd be easier than digging for the CD. Everything went fine except...

Now I don't have any COH related icons avail for some reason. The icon shows some Microsoft clipart and when I right click and go to properties and click the 'Change Icon' button the only ones that come up are the default ones for the PC.

Any clues why this is and how to find the icons?

On the "Change Icon" window, click "Browse" and then find and select the CoH program. That will give you the option of choosing from the various CoH icons.
