Does Anyone Else Miss Sewer Teams?

/this.
For new characters the team starts in the Atlas Park or Galaxy City Sewers and does one of two things. Either fight their way to the lowest level on the map or Pick an exit and fight their way to it. In both cases players will battle ever increasing opponents and rack up 6-10 levels.
If they get to the lowest level of the sewers they usually take the death express back to AP or GC. If they choose to fight to an exit they can come out in Kings Row, Steel Canyon, Skyway City, or Boomtown. In any case they can be a lot of fun. |
IIRC the enemies there start with Hellions and Vahzilok - and the Vahz slows (and exploding zombies) are nasty to run into when you have only 2-3 powers total. You run into Lost (and mezzing Anathema) just as you start going "Ha, we can take them now!"
Then at 35 or so, enter the sewers and take the door to the right, entering the Abandoned Sewers. Play with Hydra, Rikti and COT, find the plaque (hmm... come to think of it, it's been a while since I've tracked that down) and - did they ever fix the Hydra trial? Regardless, you can fight your way to the starting point for that.
I was never one for low sewer teams, but I LOVED me some Abandoned Sewer runs in the mid-high 30s! Aaaah, nostalgia...!

I had a great time playing with you!
I laughed! For some reason running a toon through Mercy has always made me more likely to stop and beat up anyone I pass while traveling from one mish to another and the contact, which of course helps me level and the get the heck out of there sooner. Plus I hate the sound of people puking so taking them down is the best way to make them stop.

The Hamidon thing died with i9 when they changed the Hamidon encounter. He's no longer squatting in the Hive, just the Devouring Earth monsters float about now. Although there's now 8 badges to get, some in precarious positions. Let me know when you face 'The Line of Wall'.
For me, the rite of passage was when you dinged 50 you filled up your tray with wakies, and then went to visit Hamidon. Blew your wakies trying to get the Heart of the Hamidon badge. I enjoyed getting the badge for friends with TP friend and flight and dropping them from up high... good target practice in the end.
Maybe that was a Union thing that has died out now :s |
The Sewer runs were basically a blitzkrieg method of avoiding the dull 1-20 content. Go in, beat up everything, come out higher. I only managed one or two but they were fun ways of avoiding the starting contacts.
I did enjoy taking my Praetorians through the newer, more interactive arcs so that's another reason I don't miss them.

I had a blaster say that our STF team had too much melee-- at 1 scrapper, 1 Brute, and 1 Tank-- and that the team was destined for failure. He got the boot, and someone else completed the STF with us.
It is hard to find teams outside of 50 though right now. I agree.
1 Tank, 1 Brute, 4 Controllers, 1 Defender, 1 Blaster
1 Tank, 3 Scrappers, 2 Controllers, 1 Blaster, 1 Defender
1 Tank, 1 Scrapper, 1 Widow, 1 Stalker, 2 Defenders, 1 Blaster, 1 Controller
All three were a success, all three were done in slightly more than an hour and deaths were by and large very low.
The only AT that seems to be needed in an STF is the tank and then only for the vine mission and giving Lord Recluse somebody to play with while everybody else is raiding his toybox.
Speaking of the sewers, how about the Sewer Trial. A pain in the **** (well it was back in the day) but content I miss. It would be nice if there was a reason to go back again.
