First off, hello everyone. Name's Scotty Pogo. Kind of a re-recurring player to CoH/CoV. I'm like a Veteran Noob, if such an oxymoron exists. Last time I played on Champion was nearly a year ago and I see a few names I recognize. This was the most helpful server I've ever been on in any MMO, so I'm hoping that still exists.

Second, I'm looking for a little input. I wanted to create a character that is inspired by the Sinestro Corps. The last character I ever played was an Illusion/Storms Controller, and I could certainly recreate that for the idea, but I was wondering if there's any other possible builds out there that might work for such a theme.

Also, what archetypes are most needed on Champion?

Thanks,
SP

Welcome back to the game/server.

Nothin' is really needed, but it couldn't hurt to have:

Emp/Pain for Hamidon Raids (three times a week).

Bubblers for Mothership Raids (at least once a week, on Thursday).

Tanks for Tanker Tuesday, and Hami Raids.

Colds or Mind/Psi perma-doms for about everythin' else.

Some kind o' corruptor since Silas will probably say to.

Thanks Cobalt. I remember grouping with you and Amy a number of times. I put this same thread on two other servers and once again, Champion wins for being the friendliest server.

Now, for my theme, I'm struggling between Illusion/?? and Demon/?? since both would be conjuring up something that would be frightening. Any suggestion to get me pushed in the right direction?

I can only offer my opinion, which would consist o' the followin': I'm not overly fond o' Masterminds, unless maybe they were */Pain (for Hami Raids and buffin' the Hami Taunter). This has more to do with my outlook in that I prefer to do somethin' myself versus havin' somethin' or someone do it for me, such as summonable Pets, would would also include Illusion/*.
Additionally, you mentioned Storm Summoning in your OP. Stormies have a bad reputation mostly due to their uninhibited Knockback, and generally rightfully so, but I've seen a few recently that may change my opinion on it.
So, in other words, I probably wouldn't roll either myself, but if I had to I would likely settle on the Illusion/Storm Controller.

Ill/Rad is my favorite so far. I made it after my husband badgered the crap out of me and she is my go to gal for most things. She was fun to lvl, LOADS of fun to slot ( ok maybe that's a lie cause I loathe slotting and building) and she's so badass my husband decided to prove it to me by soloing Jack and Eochi a few months ago (he's such a show off LOL)

Ill/Storm is good as well.

I'm not so hot for my demon/therm MM. (no pun intended) I ended up xferring it to another server and giving it to my son to play who, of course, loves it. It's all about what you want to accomplish in the end so play what you want, when you want, except on Hami raids cause OMG we loves us some Emps/Pains LOL

I haven't had a chance to explore much yet, but I'm assuming if you start as a Praetorian, you can still eventually go to Paragon or the Rogue Isles? Or does everyone now just stay in Praetoria?

Praetoria is a set of six level 1 - 20 zones. Once you ding level 20 in Praetoria, you're forced out and sent to your choice of either Paragon City or the Rogue Isles. You can, however, go back to Praetoria at any time via Pocket D.

Ah, ok. Next question: What's this I read about fitness being inherent now? Or did I misread that?

Yep, all toons get it at level 2. If your toon already has old fitness you need to respec to get inherent fitness.

And he's right. Since rolling a corr recently, I'm awfully impressed!

Monty Python and the Holy Grail came on IFC not to long ago. Inspired the change.

If you want an ill controller Ill/rad is fun.

Corr are great too, fire/kin = blaster with a way to nuke and refill end, and help team when you remimber during a pew pew SCOURGE spree.

new content has been focused around lvl 50s so if you have an old one, you can dust it off.

1) Ni!

2) I made an Illusion/Rad Controller. I like the idea of making pure yellow constructs, and since Sinestro is based on fear, the theme fits.

3) Playing with Mid's again, and oh how quickly I can forget... When it comes to set bonuses, I can have 3 of the same bonues right? (i.e. 3 set bonuses with the 5% recharge time) Or is it 6?

You're not forced out; there's just not much left to do.

OP: I've been thinking about Illusion Control/Cold Domination.
