Is there a different damage cap for Demons in the mastermind set than for other Lt level pets?

I slotted 3 damage enhancements in my level 17 demon summon power which should add up to 66% damage. But the real number display says that I only have 59% damage bonus.

The same thing seems to be the case when I slot resistance enhancements, except that the value of the enhancement seems inflated. e.g. A 5% resistance from my ember shield displays as 7.83%. I shouldn't get that from a single level 20 IO should I?

It's purely a display bug - underneath everything is enhancing the way you'd expect them to, with the usual caps.

If that's the case, then its a relief. Still, it's not happening with my other masterminds so I was a bit worried there for a bit.

It's to do with the game treating damage and damage resistance as the same thing internally (or something to that effect). That's the only power that can take both types, so that's why you don't see it elsewhere (though similar things happen in a few places with other enhancement types). It doesn't actually have the effect the enhancement screen shows because the pet abilities are flagged separately from the pet summon power with regards which enhancement types they can take i.e. the pet summon is flagged to take both so you get the screwy numbers shown, but the pet's attacks aren't flagged to accept damage resist, and the ember shield isn't flagged to accept damage, so neither actually cascade down to them and they get enhanced normally. Or something like that, I'm working from memory of other people's explanations in earlier threads.

That's about it exactly. No other mastermind has a pet where you can enhance with two different tiers of enhancements: damage and damage resistance in this case, so it shows it at the lower tier for damage. If you get 66% damage showing on the tier two demons its really over 90%.

Ahhh...this all makes sense now. Thanks for the explanations.

One last thing. This doesn't seem to happen with my thug enforcers and their +defense...nor my bots. So I'm assuming that damage resistance is a special case somehow. Still it's a relief to know that its only cosmetic.

The only other fret I have is that I have to calculate the values when I slot multi attribute IOs from sets.

Bots have defense in the protector bot shields. Enforcers have leadership/maneuvers which is also defense based - not resistance.

I believe Enforcers does have a similar issue with its +defense, but it interacts with defense debuff rather than damage (so people notice / care about it less). If you slot defense in the Enforcer it'll also display the equivalent amount of defense debuff in the enhancement screen (and vice versa), but again just as a display bug as the separate enhancement type flags on their abilities don't allow it to cascade down (HOs might enhance both, not sure).

I think you're right. I've just never slotted a defense debuff into my enforcers so I never really noticed the effect.

I'm pretty sure HO do in fact enhance both aspects, since defense debuff HOs work on defense buffs and vice versa. You'll get that display bug on any power that accepts both damage and resist enhancements, because mechanically resists are considered negative damage enhancements. Likewise any other pair of attributes that use different enhancement tiers but are considered the same basic thing by the game engine (defense and defense debuff, etc...) will show the wrong values at times. If you want the correct value, the easiest thing to do is use Mids and plug in the enhancements you'll be using.
