Returning player
Hey and welcome back! Wow if i10 was the last update to the game then i think your in for a HUGE suprise. i11 onwards has really been a case of adding something major to the game and if im honest theres TOO much to explain in just one post.
Firstly make sure you are part of the 3 main union channels which if you was here before you have more than likely heard of. These are sals badgehunters, union chat and union taskforce. All 3 are active for either general chat help or forming taskforce teams.
Off the top of my head now, heres a list of things that has been added.
- Ouroboros - A zone with solo mini taskforces [arcs in a way] that also lets you "flashback" to any arc in the game if you wish. This zone is also where you get the arc to kickstart your incarnate abilities once you reach level 50. Zone is locked off until you hit level 25.
- Rikti war zone revamp - Now one of the major zones, the RWZ has gone a complete overhaul and has great arcs in it as well as the Lady Grey taskforce [lots of fun!]. Theres also something in the lines of a mothership raid there too that is lots of fun.
- Purple/pvp recipes - Like standard IO recipes, except these are only available in level 47+ enemies. They give off the best stats boost in the game and due to how rare they are, sell for a lot in the auction house.
- Mission Architect - One of these buildings are found in most zones and are used to create your own arcs/enemies and also play them with friends or play others! Some are really good while others obviously are very poor. Rewards in the MA though instead of salvage/recipes are MA tickets which can be traded in for recipes/unlockable content for you to create more arcs.
- Power customisation - Some powers have alternative animations now and you can change the colour of your powersets Not to mention of course the new weapon models for existing weapon sets!
- Cimerora/midnight zone - A "flashback" to the ancient time of rome, more than likely holds the most popular taskforce in the game where you fight off against romans and an old foe. Zone is locked off to 35+ in cimerora, however the midnight zone is 20+ and has some great arcs in it.
- Going Rogue - a brand new level 1 - 20 experience, which when it does sound low you'll be suprised at just how good that experience is. Some of the best missions in the game and they only get better the higher you go.
- New powersets - Shields/dual blade/dual pistols/demon summonin/Psy blast/kinetic melee. Those are the ones that i can think of off the top of my head, however some powersets have been ported over and slightly changed for other ATs to use so the actual list is a lot bigger. For example scrappers now can use electric melee [which is a beast!].
- Tip missions/morality points - Just like the radio system, every enemy level 20+ has the chance to drop a mission called a "tip mission". You can only hold 3 at any one time but they are VERY good which highlight the less known heroes/villains of the game and shows you their path to power/glory throughout the whole 20 - 50 experience.

Thanks for the reply.
Still having problems getting on.
So are there specific downloads for EU and US servers?
Cheers
Ian
Ok, the problem was the fact i had downloaded the US client!
Anyway just started up and found out that I need to roll a new toon for Rogue!
So just messed about with that for 10 mins in the tutorial.
Looks great as ever!
So are the old CoH/V any use anymore?
Whats the stroy line for rogues by the way, where can I find this out.
Cheers
Ian
Well you dont need to re-download the EU client by the way, just right click the US one you downloaded, click properties, and change the target to
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\cohupdater.eu.exe"
thats including the " at both ends.
Yup the old coh/cov game you remember is still there, its just doubled in size thats all

Okay just remind me about global chat and channels.
Just re- rolled a mind controller on Union. I haven't bothered with my old characters just started again. I went into tutorial an completed that so here goes into the big bad city.
OOh does two yellow dots mean a high population on at the moment?
Cheers
Ian
medium usage is yellow.
Game clients are here now, http://www.cityofheroes.com/account/...of_heroes.html
Mornin.
Right played to the point where I had the options from Calvin Scott about two contacts Ricochet and Robert Flores.
I went to santigo ( I think) and got the crumpled paper with the directions on them. When I got the paper I had no mission or carry on come up. Is this because im only level 4? Anyway I decided that i would make my way to the underground. I found an entrance and got killed as I entered so ended up in th eunderground hospitial.
I left the tube and there was ricochet but she gave me the cold shoulder.
I then only had robert as a contact.
Any ideas/advice.
Cheers
Ian
The first two contacts are constantly confusing and indeed awkward sometimes.
Firstly since you are level 4, they WILL talk to you. IIRC its if your below level 4 that they wont but i cant say for certain. The way it worked at first was that you would need to talk to the contact that you selected twice before a mission came up. If that contact was above your level then on the second "talk" they would say you would need to be level 4/10/15 to do this arc.
What contacts are in your active contacts tab?
The underground is a very dangerous place to wander around in, think you found that out now

Thanks,
think i need to go back and talk to her.
Don't get much time to play on a Monday.
If i remember correctly there used to be something to collect badges in the old CoH, is there anything for going rogue?
Cheers
Ian
Oh the old amount of badges reached just under 500 when you was here i think. Now its past 1000
There are badges for the zones/missions/enemies/zone events that are in praetoria yes [remember you can go back to praetoria at any time].

Weee hit level 10 tonight just ventured into the imperial city.
Im sure theres so more I havent seen due to just following mish stuff.
I thought that you could sell inspirations?
Now i must find some Mind/rad builds
Cheers
Ian
Same here on my new Praetorian character. Just hit level 10 tonight and taking him into Imperial City for the first time some time tomorrow.
This is where the arcs really get good! Make sure to read them all remember and tell us what you feel about them
Dont think contacts will buy inspirations off you anymore, but you can still sell them in the auction house to players but thats next to no influence really

Oh wow. Going level 10 opened up some doors, well maybe not I just played around a little. ( so many questions at 1:00 am )
Inventions now I don't think that was there when I was last here. Now I know what all that salavage is for, just need to know how!
I think the bases where just introduced when the last updated happened! Are they worth it?
Merit rewards please tell me some more about these.
I found a bank can you email stuff to alts?
Dual Builds!!!!!!!
Auction Houses where are they?
God I had a last but not least but gone out my head! hope it will come back to me.
Cheers

Inventions:
If you do the tutorial in the "university" (forgot the name in Praetoria.) You will learn how to make use of the salvage and recipes.
But short version, you need a recipe of an enchantment, the needed salvage (it always says what it needs in the recipe) and a inventionbench/workstation.
Then simply use the workbench and find the recipe and click create. Voila. You have a new enchantment that you can slot.
Now lvl 30 IO (invention origins) are the same as SO (single origin), with one major difference. Any IO will NOT be outlevelled.
(If you create all 25/30 Io's, you will get more salvage space on your characters (but you have to create a certain amount of each))
Merit Rewards:
Instead of having recipes drop as reward on completion of a tf or even mission (as mission/tf complete reward) you now get merits.
These merits can be used to buy (for a steep price) a recipe, or you can use a chance roll. (Odds are you may not get the right recipe, but depending upon which level range you tried the chance roll, you might get something else, that you either can craft & sell and then buy your wanted recipe (Auction house).
Yes, you can e-mail stuff to yourself. The limit is 20 and it is globally. Now what that means is that if I was to e-mail something to myself, I would write @lady arete (the @ is important), put some money, recipe, enchantment, salvage or Inspiration in there and a little message.
I would then get an e-mail which I then can relog to my little alt and claim.
Dual builds:
Well now with incarnates it is essentially Triple builds
But lets say you wanted one build up to maximize your buildup for teaming.
& One build where you wanted to do alot of pvp, or RP build or just get some powers that just... could... not... fit into the teaming build.
Simply talk to a trainer and activate the next build, it has a 15 minute recharge, until you can return to an other build.
This new build though, must get new enchantments (the old in build 1 stays where they are).
Auction houses:
Praetoria- Imperial City (look at map)
Paragon City - Talos Island, Steel Canyon and Atlas park
Rogue Island - Cap Au Diable, Sharkhead & St. Martial (not used the St.martial much, so I might tell an untruth here)
Lady Arete on Unionhandbook
My Excel Badge tool
Thanks for this.
Still alot to learn.
Cheers
Ian
First of all Welcome back to the City.
Secondly i haven't noticed anyone pointing you to this website: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page
It's a useful wiki page which hopefully can answer a lot of questions you may have in the future. Its a player run site but is generally up to date with the latest things.
Thirdly, make sure to hit up on the Global channels we use.
Union Chat - Talk about anything, ask for help, introduce yourself etc.
Sals Badgehunters - This channel is Unions Badgechannel, for hunts, task force making etc.
Union Taskforce - This channel is used to announce Task force (creation), raids etc.
To join any of these channels simply take a look at your UI. You will notice the word "Chat" or any other Tab (you can make a new tab by right clicking on your chat box and selecting "add tab") .
Type in /chan_join "Union Chat" and click enter.
Then right click "chat" and look for something about channels. Then click that choice. You will get a new window divided into two. Left and Right.
On your Left side are the channels that "chat" -tab has active. See if Union chat is on left or right side. If its on the right side, simply move it over to the left, then click accept or Ok.
This way you have enabled the chat channel (sometimes global channels vanish, with this you know how to enable it again)
Repeat as necessary for the other channels.

Short Story I did: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=228383
DevArt Page: http://tamedragon.deviantart.com/
Hello all,
Been a while since i've played but just got support to re-activate my account.
Still having a bit of problem getting my account and password to be accepted but I got the support working on that.
Anyway . . . .
Never got to the end game as I always ended up the playing the blizzy game!
So I have some questions . . .
What are server populations like now?
I have just upgraded to going rogue to get my 30 days play.
Can i still play the old content, is it still necessary to play it?
I think the last update i saw was about i10 what have i missed?
Can you solo, is it easy to find teams if necessary? is being a member of a super group vital?
There prob plenty more questions but really need to get my log in sorted.
Hopefully see you in game very shortly
Cheers
