Hi

Thought i would just sign in.......

I have never played CoH , and reading about DCOU made me feel the need to try a decent Super Hero MMO

Just want to say (after nearly 4 hours reading forums & deciding on a character LOL)

I havent a scooby (clue) what i am doing -

ALL TIPS Apreciated to a toal NOOB

(I expected a much more dumbed down game, but glad its so Grown up
)

I had to roll on Praetoria in the Rogue expansion, so i assume i get to go to heroes and vilians citys later......(i have both activated with some nice perks as well )

I think soloing a bit at first to get the basics down is a good thing. I did the same thing when I first started. There is an awesome Wiki page called ParagonWiki that has just about everything you would ever want to know about the game.

There are also build planners to help you decide what powers to pick and what enhancements to slot in those powers before you lock into a decision.

Yes i am taking it real slow... so solo is perfec for now..... I have 2 manuals and now recommended website (hi5) , but stumble, stumble, trip to start with...

First, welcome to the game Solar Punch. May your stay be a long and very enjoyable one

Hmm... a few tips for starters.
Have fun with your char, go wild by creating alts (more characters) and try different combinations.
Right, you start off in Praetoria. Enjoy.
When you start in Primal Earth, at lvl 5 there is a contact popping up of Aeon Entertainment... SKIP him for now.

Remember the game takes place between lvl 1 and lvl 50, end game wise there is only some high lvl task forces (Series of missions after each other and no new members can join after they start).

Now, do not be discouraged if you seem alone in the zone. This game is instanced, meaning we will be in missions or some other zone.
I'd advice you to join in on a channel (when that time comes) or two, unless you have gotten into a good sg with people you team with.

I'd advice "Union Chat" and "Union Taskforce" channel first (Sals badgehunters is another channel with alot of action). Feel free to ask questions in Union Chat and you will get help
To join a channel type:
/chan_join "Union chat"

If you then see Union Chat (where Local or broadcast where before) then you are in the channel.
Sometimes the global channel might become abit wonky, so to make certain you know the chat channel is enabled do the following (at those times)
right-click on "chat", click the "channel" option. Now you get a window in two rows (left and right). On your left side are the channels that you have enabled in "chat" and on the Right side are those you are able to, but have not enabled. If Union chat is on the right side, simply mark it and click move/enable. Then ok.

Pretty much everything that needs to be said has been said. If you have any questions, the forums are very friendly and there are plenty of excellent guides out there as well as the Paragon Wiki of course.

Level up, enjoy the ride and if something confuses you, feel free to ask either here or in game. The community is mostly very friendly and willing to help.

BTW, Fire/Shield rocks. Be sure to pick up the Fighting pool some time, it stacks nicely.

Ah, the first hints of the CoX disease known as altisis. This game thrives on making new characters so you may well find yourself wanting to make many over your time here. It's quite natural but it can rage out of hand if you're not careful.

Sgt Stryker was a PPD Sergeant in the R & D division.

When he was sent to retrieve cargo from a 'lightly' armoured terrorists convoy and deliver it to a secret RV, where Praetor White would be waiting. Just another mission like any other, so he thought!

The convoy was 'heavily' guarded by Elite resistance troops, but orders were orders. Loosing his entire team in the battle, he turned up late to the RV, to over hear Praetor White give his termination order, once the crate was secure.

Stryker quickly rigged high explosives to his truck and timed the detonation perfectly killing the PPD enforcers, whilst he hid with the crate. Shielded from the blast Praetor White believed Stryker and the cargo were vapourised.

Dead to the PPD, forgotten to the World. Now he's SOLAR PUNCH

Remember when you fill all your character slots on Union there's still Defiant to fill

Oh and Solar Punch, remember xp comes as it comes. This game is about the journey towards 50.
When you get to lvl 50 there is only some TFs, a hamidon Raid (that I hope we get done more) and the ability (you have it the entire time) to use Oroboros and do the content again. (But they will not be contacts in your contact menu)

But it is good that you have found your favorite
And having a story for your first, makes you enjoy the character even more, good thinking.
