This may sound like a dumb question but...

If everything was as simple as "go from point a to point b" I would never have found things like the secret room in Faultline, or the Devs Room in Grandville. Or how about getting to go underwater in that pool in Grandville? Or the secret way to get to the Matrix room in the Arena? And was it in Cap Au Diablo where one could find the floating signs that could only be seen from above?

How many other hidden gems have we forgotten that we never would have seen if we were like the OP and only went from mission door to mission door?

I love the hidden mission door challenges.
Just going around and checking places out is one of my favourite pastimes. I found a lovely picnic spot in Talos while I was just putzing around one day.

While some missions have permanent doors, most have a random assignment - therefore mentioning hidden doors like that in the description wouldn't work.

Orc&Pie No.53230 There is an orc, and somehow, he got a pie. And you are hungry.

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.

Though contacts usually give you a hint when they send you to a fixed door that's hidden. Such as the dig site missions from Agent G (he tells you about how Arachnos has been digging underneath Faultline), or Lars Hansen's mission into Wolf's Throat.

Is... is there a picnic emote?

Oh, to fly to the top of a building and set up lunch.
I remember someone mentioning watching sunrises.
Anyone got favourite spots?

I always enjoy the sights reclining on top of the Sky Raider hanger on Striga Isle.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

Well, there are eating and drinking emotes, and sitting down emotes - but there's no emote that combintes them into one superheroic sitting and eating picnic emote

I like to go swimming around Talos and Cimerora - the lighting in those zones always makes them so sunny

Finding the mission door is usually very easy, but there are a small number of cases where it can be tricky due to the geography. I have generally found that a few minutes of searching around is sufficient to locate most hard-to-find mission doors. The one exception for me was Faultline, where there really is a secret tunnel to the mission door. I asked about it on these forums and received an answer in lerss than 5 minutes. I tend to not like asking for help, but I've found that this community is friendly and makes doing so rather easy.

Other quests say you need to wipe out every one, when you don't, yet some would say to kill the boss, but they mean kill the boss and everyone else in the instance.
Its rare that the mission objective is incorrect. However, "kill the boss" almost always means "Kill the boss and also every enemy in the same room as him." Often (but not always) this is aluded to in the statedobjective (i.e, "defeat boss and his crew", "defeat boss and her guards," etc). Also, on some maps, it's not always immediately clear what constitutes the "same room" as the boss. Kill Alls have always meant exactly that for me, but sometimes there are ambushes which appear at the end of the mission, and they aren't always required for the Kill All.

I would surmise that for other ppl who come into this game cold, with no posse to help them navigate the pitfalls that await a noob, this is not a good thing. If the brass who pay attention to subscription rates read this; they might want to take note of this. CoH is a mature game in that the bulk of the player base has been around for a while and already know the ins and outs of just about every aspect except the new stuff. They also have a pretty good support system with their buds who have been at it for a while as well. It's easy therefore to get complacent about quest flows and design.
Sorry to hear this game wasn't for you. For the record, I don't agree that this game is necessarily problematic for new players. I started two years ago and while I had two friends who played, they only started a couple of weeks before me and did not play very often, so by level 20 I was already ahead of them in the game. I mostly soloed and did not use any in-game chat, but was still able to figure out most things for myself. The few things I couldn't, I learned by coming to these forums or by looking it up on the Wiki. But different players have different playstyles, and it looks like this game just doens't fit with yours. Hope you find one that does.
