Name That Song

Okay, I've had some song or other stuck in my head for over a week now, but I have no idea what it is, who it's by, or anything at all about it except for this part, which I think is the chorus, and which may be entirely wrong:

Chords played as 8th notes with a fairly chunky over-driven guitar tone.



I figure there's gotta be somebody here that plays guitar or some other musical instrument that might recognize the song from this snippet.

So... anybody recognize it?

Nope I got nothing, sorry. Not allowed to play my guitar at the moment, my arm is broken.

Confirmed altaholic with 70+ alts in coh and cov...yes i know thats alot! Playing coh since beta test phase.

Can you remember even a fragment of the lyrics?

I got nothin'.

Not even sure the chord progression is right. I know there's a video and I'm pretty sure it's of fairly recent vintage. I have this vague impression of it being about rebellious elderly folks possibly driving around in the desert... and in my head it sounds kinda like The Wallflowers, but with a little more punch.

Someday I'll hear it again. In the meantime I've scoured various Top 100 lists ranging from 2008-2010 and so far have found nothing.

On TV, several weeks ago - and I've heard it more than once, but always when I was occupied with something else and wasn't really watching. I've looked at some recent soundtrack albums, but so far haven't had any luck there.

I was off by quite a few years and in the wrong key, but had the chord progression of the chorus right except for a minor chord where a 7th should have been. Whew!

Thanks rian frostdrake, and everyone else! Now I can rest easy... until the next song snippet strikes!

Cool, glad you found it. I know it can be so annoying to have a song in your head with no name or band. Anytime I hear a song on tv or a movie I try to write down any repeating lyrics and run to google it to find out information.

And speaking of songs involving elderly people and songs that I researched after I heard it on TV (on a documentary if I remember)...first thing that came to my mind (although I knew it probably wasn't the one you were looking for). Whether you like the music or not the concept and theme is pretty interesting if you watch the whole video.
