Set Bonuses Display

When the IO system was introduced back in issue 9, the devs added a Set Bonus category which appears under the powers tab in the Character Info display. Over time this produced a long incomprehensible list of set bonuses which would usually be judged by its length rather than its content, unless rare bonuses were involved("Ultimate", LotG's).

1. Are you currently happy with the way it works?

2. Would you like it more if it displayed set totals as opposed to naming the set bonus with a nicer display, ala Mids? If not, do you have a better suggestion?

IMO, the long list is cumbersome and not easy on the eyes. If it was made to display total bonuses as opposed to bonus names, it has the potential to promote a new form of elitism, which is why I'm not sure of the best way to deal with the issue.

How about a set bonuses tab in the character info display, which would be set hidden to others by default(opposite of the Alignment tab), and would display your set totals in a neat and tidy fashion?

I really don't think there is any easy way to deal with bonus listings. There will always be "elitist" out there.

Too true... But I wouldn't mind it at all if they cleaned up the list some to make it easier to read.

The only reason i thought they were included was for the purposes of pvp. you could check their bonuses and see if you would be fighting someone much superior or weaker as the case may be. In that regard it'd be a lot quicker to list base stats with their modifiers. It would accomplish the same task as the above.

Perhaps it would be better to simply ask for what purpose they were originally created and then use that to determine if they are still serving that purpose or should be updated. I'd prefer something a hair more legible myself but worry that the window would extend to the beyond bottom of the page in short order. Of course since I don't pvp anymore I don't check these anymore so any updates would be lost on me.

I highly doubt pvp was part of the equation(it rarely ever is). To me it always seemed more like a way to show others your level of investment in the character.

I highly doubt PvP was the reason for this, as last I checked you couldn't see your opponents Powers Tab in the Info box. Since Set Bonuses show up in the Powers Tab, I doubt PvP was the reason.

<rolleyes>
Not sure why it bothers some people what other people have? I don't care if people have 1 set bonus or 100 showing. I judge people on their ability to play the game.

I say leave the bonuses the way they are.... I mean what's next calling people elite because they have 500+ badges?

Exactly.

I don't think there's too much elitism in coh. More important is that you know how to play your characters. Set bonuses are minor role in that. I have huge wall of bonuses with my main and almost nothing with some other characters. TF's are going smoothly or clumsy anyway. It depends your own style and team.

But they could be coloured with colours of original sets. It would be easier to read that list for yourself if it's huge.
