Did anyone watch The Cape last night? Any thoughts?

I watched for the full 2-hours but I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. I didn't turn away though so that counts for something. Gives me the feeling of another caped crusader that favors black. Interesting, if-not-quick, back-story. Hoping that some of the animations/graphics for the cape grapels will improve with time.

Shame on them for revealing the head bad guy, even though all the face-closeups made that apparent.

Will watch again on the 17.

it's also available on Hulu.

As for the show, I enjoyed it. The hero and villain costumes make me think of a gritty noir detective comic, which I feel is appropriate because he will have to find the evidence to clear his name so there will be a lot of sluething, and because he doesn't really have any powers. I dont believe this show is meant to be a "super hero" show, but more of a "caped crusader" or "masked avenger" style. I hope that they capitalize on that aspect. I dont much like the latest Batman movies because it's too gadget-heavy. I'd like it if the show focused more on the detective work and crimefighting, and doesn't get crazy with Orwell playing the Q to Faraday's Bond by supplying him with all these high tech gizmos thoughout the episodes.

In short, it's nice to see a story about "one man against all odds, making a difference, fighting the good fight to get back what's his*" when all that man has is literally the clothes (or cape) on his back, unless you count the huge amount of cash he has access to from the Carnival of Crime and the uber-tech of Orwell... which I'm trying real hard not to because it ruins my "one man against all odds..." buzz.

*you got to say it in a cool movie announcer voice. Try it... "one man..." See? It makes all the difference.

I watched all of the 2 hours and thought it was okay.

SPOILERS below!!!

Like I said I liked it but as someone else pointed out, it seemed to skip around a lot (ie. just go through things 'fast')...for example when Chess ordered the henchmen to get the head Carnival guy (forgot name already ) the next scene is him beating the head Carnival guy...just kind of skipped the whole process of bringing him in....like how did they do that, etc...

Things like that are a bit annoying but I guess I know why they did that (trying to get to the 'point' of the story without 'wasting' 3 hours).

The one villain I could do without is 'Scales'...they could have just named him differently and/or just not have done the whole 'face/body disfigured' thing...just too 'tacky' for me...

Overall, I'm still recording it...it has potential....

I liked the show, I will be watching it next week.

I chuckled when the villain group revealed their name, The Carnival of Crime!

I also thought that it was going to attract exactly the type of crowd that would be interested in CoH. If there are any thoughts to advertising our great MMO, this may be the place.

How is this thread still alive? Community threads that "belong in the Comic forum" in the Justice forum get nuked, closed, or transferred in like an hour or less....

I liked the show; took me a while to see the last 1/2 of the second episode cause our cable cut out. I've heard a lot of complaints about the camp factor, but I didn't think it was too bad really. The music stood out to me as the campiest part. It's still rough around the edges, and things seem a little rushed or underdeveloped, but those are issues lots of shows have at the start, and they get smoothed out over time. I also enjoyed their sense of humor, "You're a superhero! What do you call yourself?" "The Cape..." "Eh.... you work on it." Seems like just a fun show that is just trying to be fun, and personally, I like fun.

I liked it but wasn't as impressed by it as I thought I would be. I'll watch it the 17th, but I don't expect it to be around long. I mean it's got Summer Glau and as much as I think she is just awesome she is the bane of tv shows.
