Trapdoor

Hi All,

Simple question, how do you defeat Trapdoor?
I was playing solo yesterday on my SD/SS tank and couldn't take him down as an EB, I've not had any problems with other EB's.
Any help would be appreciated.

Most straightforward way is to get a team. Not a big one, one or two more people should be plenty. You'll be glad you did, for the rest of the arc.

If you're the last living person on your server, or you only play at times when everyone else in the entire world is asleep, or you just hate interacting with other players if you can help it, there's some other ways too.

1) Temp powers. Envenomed Dagger in particular. Grab a Shivian Shard from Bloody Bay, you'll need it further on anyway.

2) Insps. Load up your tray with reds and some purples, pop 'em all and go to town.

3) Lure or KB Trapdoor into the lava pool. It'll do most of the work for you.

I find that different ATs have to use different tricks. If you're a high damage AT, just load up with red inspirations and pound on him. If you can get your DPS high enough, his regen can't overcome it and you should be able to get him down before he summons too many clones.

If you're lower damage, you'll need to take out his clones as soon as he spawns them. I found the Back Up Radio power really handy for this as he gets distracted by them while you take out his clones.

Thanks for the replies.
What is the relationship with the clones, he seems to regen as he spawns them? I tried taking out the clones first but he just keeps making more. I wondered if there was a limit to the number that he produces so if you left them it would prevent his regen?

Sounds like a team might be the only answer if there is no specific workaround other than DPS.

Oh and do most of the missions have such troublesome foes?

His bufercations (clones) ARE his primary source of regeneration. Take them out/mezz/hold/etc as they come along then return to beating on Trapdoor.

Once aggroed he spawns a bifurcation every 30 seconds whether you're there or not. Each one gives a hefty regen buff to Trapdoor, so usually the easiest thing to do if you have to go to the hospital is to reset the mission.

Hunting down any bifurcations spawned while returning to the mission can take a while if your DPS isn't especially high.

I was a little worried going into that fight with my WP/WM tanker, given the problems other people had with low damage ATs (he was a cinch on my dom and MM). What I did was eat a couple of small reds, pop my pinnacle, and cast a Warwolf pet (from the Warwolf Whistle she'd managed to pick up somewhere).

He popped a bifurcation straight away. I hit him a few times, alt-tabbed around for the bifurc, but couldn't see it (I guess it was on a different level). I was still doing pretty good damage though, so I (and the wolf) kept pounding on him. He cast his second bifurcation pretty much as he went non-combatant, so I didn't get to see whether that made much of a difference to his regen. I assume any other tanker could probably beat him the same way, since there's nothing really special about mine.
