Primary for pairing with /dark -- help me recreate TIMI!

So, back when I played Some Other Game, I played a warlock named Timi. Timi was a blast to play, and I want to try to recreate her here. In the hypothetical other game, which I am not talking about, she specialized in life-draining abilities and the like.

I'm pretty committed to /dark because OMG FLUFFY! He's no Belnuz but he'll do.

But primary?

fire/ -- flavor of the month for some time combined with /dark, obviously powerful, but I'm not totally sure it fits thematically.
dark/ -- meshes okay with /dark, but I already have a dark/dark defender, so maybe a bit much overlap.
ice/ -- nice control, I'm told
rad/ -- apparently also pretty usable

I'm pretty comfortable ruling out dp/, ar/, arch/, and elec/. Open to suggestions for other stuff, though.

Character, if it matters: Timi is a more ridiculously over-the-top villain than most of CoV. She will try to bribe people by offering to kill their family members in front of their very eyes "relatively quickly". Not exactly a very serious character, but sorta creepy in practice.

I'd say go with Fire. Warlocks in some other game often have hellfire abilities and fire blast with a dark-ish tine to the powers should work well for that.

There is that and Fire does go good with Dark misama. Got one to 42 so far and that damage he does compared to the higher level and better slotted DP/dark that I made for it's style is remarkable. Not that the DP/Dark sucks... he doesn't. They blend rather well actually. I find that DP was easy on the endo while the fire guy sucks it back like shinolah shoots through a goose, so be ready to counter that via your choice method. Slotting/Procs/+rec set bonuses etc.

Also while mucking about with something I said I'd never do again. A bubbler. I discovered Sonic Blast goes well with more then just Rad (in fact it makes the new bubbler bearable)... It's blasts can be colored as you need and blasting poses changed to be less yelling and more casting... never quite shooting though. It doesn't have the rain though. If you are indeed trying to recreate "that" then only fire or a re-colored ice have that effect possible.

I don't know if Masterminds get a Fire Epic but if they do... then they can open different non Dark Miasma alternatives as well... Depending if you want Rain/stormy damage mayhem or dark fluffy.

Zombie or Demons/Storm or Dark M/Blasty epic

Might also work. (shrug)

Good luck.

Fire/dark it is.

Next up: GIZMOS! Timi was, in a previous incarnation, an engineer, constantly fiddling about with goggles (found some tolerable ones in the costume editor, though I'd prefer ones which glow), devices, bombs, and so on.

What are some things I can craft (temp powers, etc.) or acquire (epic power pools, someday) which involve visible gadgetry? Fancy-looking science stuff preferred. It really, really, doesn't matter what it does; neither whether what it does is of any use, nor whether it makes any sense for her to do it. Gadgetry is an end in and of itself.

Anything from the Medicine pool will have you whip out a very sciency tricorder-looking device. Any of the purchaseable temp jetpacks will give you one of the Sky Raider winged jetpacks which look awesome.

Almost all of the Invention temp powers would work with your theme. Full list of them (and other temps) here.

Maybe go AR/Traps? That way you'd have the gadgety supergun which shoots just about everything as well as all the gadgets in /Traps. You could also then go with the Scorpion pool for an additional gadget in the mace.

As mentioned, the medicine pool lets you use a little tricorder-style gadget. I know they don't necessarily have to be useful, but if you don't object to a bit of usefulness to go with your concept I would pick stimulant as the representative of that pool - mez protection is the only thing medicine does that you don't already do with your /dark stuff.

Mace mastery can give you two different mace powers plus a big robot, if that's your style. Web envelope can immob stuff in rain of fire, and web cocoon will stack with petrifying gaze to hold bosses. Round it out with scorpion shield for some S/L defense goodness.

OOoh! That is a really good idea -- shame I can't mez-protect myself. I spend WAY too much time held. I may need a big stack of break frees some day. The mace mastery stuff might be viable. I sorta want death rays and such, but I am pretty happy with the fire/dark build in terms of looking Very Evil. (It's all green and purple. It looks a fair bit like an angry affliction warlock.)

PPD Back-up unit temp power summons a robot, as does the HVAS temp power available for purchase in the rwz (much bigger robot).

Kahn TF, blue side, grants a 'Dimensional Grounding Ray'; it's a giant honkin gun that shoots a giant honkin effect which, in most instances, will do absolutely nothing.

When you do mayhems and safeguards and a weapons/arms deal happens to be one of the side missions. Make sure your the one clicking the glowie. Sometimes you get snookered but often there are temps in the boxes. It is completely random what your going to get and if you already have said power... I'd wager thats when you get 'snookered' and nothing pops.

I still remember a Arms deal with Nemesis as the NPC's. Cracked the box and what was in it?

"Heavy Rock"

I sheet you not. ;p

Someone pulled off a "plot" on Nemesis for once.
