So I got on last night and was playing with some friends and the rest of the group to make up a PUG. We ran alternating Lady Winter and Baby New Year missions.
I swapped off. A couple hours later or so, Pistola hit 50 after gaining the rest of his level, too! 
Waddle the Penguin hit 50 after gaining 3 blocks.
YAY!
