Middle Ground Alignment Parity
60!!! Double the amount for getting the 2nd? Really? Wow... I will have to do that then. It seems extraordinarily high for something so easily accomplished.
[Edit] http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...ight=Ouroboros - I see you signed on to the idea of merging it too. It's a good idea and I hope they do it sooner or later, one way or the other.

Check out the Repeat Offenders network of SGs! You'll be glad you did.
1) We need the special Rogue tips in Paragon and Vigilante tips in the Isles to offer at least 2 choices - Rogue/Hero and Vigilante/Villain.
I was VERY disappinted that they went to the trouble to create special tips for those and didn't provide an option to stay a rogue or stay a vigilante (aside from simply refusing the morality missions). |
Seeing as an Alignment Merit is the equivilant of more than 100 Reward Merits it doesn't really seem all that extraordinarily high.

I withdraw all requests for merit parity, that's beyond anything I had hoped for. I'd still like some tourist-area content though.
Completely agree. I very much hope to see that implemented.

I haven't run any of them yet but I wonder if the situations in those tips just don't lend themselves to a rogue solution instead of heroic one without being too villainous. I consider a lot of the rogue missions in the Isles to be pretty heroic, the line is very thin with the only real difference being the way it is presented as an opportunity for gain vs something altruistic. And what about the morality mission? Do you go back to the Isles to get that or get something different in Paragon and what sort of mission would it be?
There is also the fact that no one who actually lives in Paragon would gain anything by joining a team where you were running Rogue tips since heroes can't go that direction. It would fill up their fame without gaining them any progress.
As much as I'd love this to happen I can certainly understand why it wasn't done and why I suggested some contacts that give similar missions outside the tip-system.
Thanks for the support.

Regarding the morality missions, I think I was just assuming that (to use rogue/hero as an example), you would get a mission drop based on the points you've accumulated, i.e. you either confirm as a rogue or switch to hero. There could be some obvious problem with that that I'm overlooking.
And regarding your suggestion about contacts, yeah, I would also like to see some facility implemented that allows us to take contacts on the 'other' side. Wouldn't have to be new; opening up a few existing contents would be fine with me, if there are any that would make sense for.
Just to be clear, though, I'm not complaining. These are things I'd love to see happen, but overall, I am thoroughly enjoying the new system.

well first of all jade let me start by saying I do not consider my Rogues or Vigilantes to be second class citizens. My 50 level Crab Spider is my badger and she has made the transition from Villain, to Rogue, to Hero to, Vigilante, back to Villain and finally back to Rogue. In the process, through teaming and time travel, she has successfully completed almost every Task/Strike Force in the game (I have yet to do any of the Shadow Shard TFs with her). She has completed every instanced door badge mission a hero or villain can do and has every exploration and history badge imaginable (including those in Praetoria now that it is available to all).
Why haven't I kept her as either a hero or villain? I enjoy being able to team with friends on both red or blue side and as a Rogue she continues to assist the Villain Group she helps run.
That said there are a few points you made I definately agree with..
1. Open up the Ouroborus portal so Rogues and Vigilantes can access either side using it. I know there are people that CLAIM its not supposed to be an alternate means of travel but I always Laugh when I see that here in posts and wonder exactly how many of them DON'T use the portal during Task Forces to quickly get to a new zone. I did the Statesman TF the other night and everyone had to wait on me while I made my way back from PI to IP before we could take on the Thorn tree. I WAS the only Rogue on the team and everyone else Ouro Portaled back to IP after completing that mission. If I have access to BOTH sides give me access to both sides! PERIOD!
2. A few contacts, other than Radio/newspaper, we could access on the opposite side would be nice. I understand them not wanting us to have access to every contact but I am a Vigilante in the Rogue Isles working with a contact in Sharkshead and running missions based on clues he sends me through the newspaper BUT after I pull a successful bank robbery for him and he introduces me to a new contact.. they won't talk to me? Why did I even bother? As you mentioned this could be as simple as setting code to recognize that Micky the Filch realized I am a Vigilante and sends me to a "special" contact that gives out Vigilante based missions.
Now as for rewards actually I continue to do my 5 Rogue tips a day and a moraility mission and I get 60 Reward Merits every two days. That's 420 every two weeks or 1560 a year without ever doing a TF. So yes Rogues and Vigilantes do continue to get rewards for reaffirming their alignment. Also keep in mind that with all the new Exploration Accolades and opening up Praetoria to ALL .. Rogues and Vigilantes now have access to every one of those bonuses (5 Reward merits for each zone you get all 8 badges in). So a Rogue now can get as many as 125 Reward merits, or more, than a Villain for doing nothing more than flying around a zone and landing in the right spot 8 times. Vigilantes benefit as well but there are a lot less zones in COV than COH so here the Rogue makes out much better.

Definitely DITTO for me.

This seems reasonable, and might convince me to keep a Rogue / Vigilante around.
Woah. Can someone confirm the 60?

Someone with permission should update the Wiki because I assumed it was correct and didn't bother running further tips on my rogue... I will now obviously.
