Hello Blaster Community.

This is a build for the first blaster I've ever managed to get past 12.

I look forward to your comments and suggestions. Also, first time copying a MIDS build to forums, so I hope it works...

Cheers! GF

Just curious, how much is cost a factor?

At a glance I notice a few things I would change right off the bat. If you cut Aim and Concentration to 2 slots, you could use the 2 slots freed up to put a LotG:+Recharge into Hover and Weave. That would only cost you ~3% recharge in Aim/BU, but increase everything else by 15%.

Those puppies are expensive though, so if INF is any issue, you may want to use 2 alignment merits to pick them up.

You don't need 3 slots in Invisibility. I would only use 1 and put another LotG:+Recharge in there. The reason you don't need any end reduction is it applies "Only Affecting Self." Most of your powers won't work while you're Invisible. Also, if you're not interest in using Invis for a +Recharge IO, you could drop it and pick up a +Stealth IO for Sprint. Stealth + that IO would give you the same (or at least about the same) Stealth as Invisibility does.

I'd probably only use 1 End Redux in Stealth, if any at all. There's some awesome IOs for Defensive sets if you want o keep those slots (or put them in Hover). Aside from LotG there's Kismet +ToHit. I really like Gift of the Ancients +Run Speed for builds that aren't going to be min/maxed anyway. Knockback protection could go in those powers as well.

Ranged Shot is virtually useless with those slots. I'd just drop it. If you could fit in Static Discharge and Psy Scream you could use those 3 for a good AoE chain with no knockback.

Subdual is also virtually useless with those slots.

I'd drop the extra slots there and put them in Drain Pschye. Extra recharge in that power is always good, as would be a Health IO. Franken slotting some Acc/Hold/Recharge into Shocking Bolt would be nice as well.

Anyway, those are the changes I'd make without betraying your power choices or making the build way more expensive.

I disagree on Ranged Shot. Two level 50 damage IOs give over 80% enhancement, which isn't that bad. I'd personally go with an Acc/Dam Hami-O instead of an Accuracy IO to ED cap the damage, but then I'd also go with two Dam/Range HOs instead of the Damage IOs just to be able to shoot things I could barely see.

My only real complaint is that the build doesn't seem to have any particular goal. You have a little defense, but not enough to make much difference. You have some global recharge but again, not really enough to matter much. If it's a matter of slotting what you can afford then the build looks decent and does offer better bonuses than just frankenslotting would, but if you have a decent amount of inf (like 100+ mil) you could probably do better focusing on a couple of things.

Personally, I'd go with Thunderstrike in all the single target blasts and 5 Positron's in all the targeted AoEs. My goal would be 50% or so global recharge and as much Ranged defense as possible (since most mezzes are ranged). To give you an idea this is my current Archery / Energy build:

For yours I'd slot the Archery attacks about the same and focus on getting recharge and ranged defense in the /Mental attacks, but only after making them useful. For instance, I'd drop Mind Probe because it's not doing much with 2 slots, and either drop Subdual down to one slot and use it for an immobilize only or add a couple and slot it well (I'd recommend just the default, you don't need it for damage). The reason I recommend more recharge is that you get a smooth attack chain of Snap -> Aimed -> Snap -> Blazing at around 50% global recharge if they are 6-slotted with Thunderstrike (which most single target Blaster attacks should be), give or take a few percent depending on what level Thunderstrikes you use. Once you have that you don't need any other single target attacks for damage, just holds or stuns or whatever and AoEs. That means no need to try to slot a redraw-inducing secondary attack as a filler.

Awesome replies and thanks for the build.

I'll take your advice and slot TS in my ranged shots.

Printed your build and will follow it along to see how it pans out.

Thanks again folks!

Any reason you didn't take Hasten? I could see it if it was for thematic purposes, but it really does make things for an Arch/MM so much faster.

Also, why not just get a Stealth IO (not too expensive and/or easy to earn with Merits etc.) and drop Invisible altogether by stacking it with Stealth?

The extra slot in subdual and mind probe seem to be wasted as well.

I'm not fond of your slotting in Drain Psyche -- it's almost not worth it if you don't have it up more often and don't either have a lot of end mod or regen in it.

I'm also a little curious if you are building toward something with the sets you chose?

ok, here's my build focusing on recharge. Not much for defense, its all about killing quick. I'd like to have some feedback. I know survivability isnt going to be very high but ive had some luck with sniping and staying out of trouble. Anyone have something like this and find it lacking?

Here's the build for my current farmer. He's soft-capped to S/L. Tactic is typically hovering at the edge of RoA range, hitting Aim, Concentrate, drop RoA, and while RoA is prepping to drop, I fire off Explosive Arrow. If anything survives, I pick it off while I'm waiting on Aim/Concentrate to get back up - they and RoA recharge at about the same speed.

You'll be able to pick off about a set of romans per thirty seconds. Another tactic you can pull off (if RoA hasn't killed everything) is fly in, Drain Psyche, Psychic Shockwave, and Explosive Shot - with World of Confusion on, anything that runs into melee with you has a good chance of being confused rapidly and infecting its friends. I usually have to do that in teams, because nobody will wait for RoA.

Groups of stragglers hopping up at you from underneath make great targets for a Fistfull of Arrows/Psychic Scream attack chain. Single targets drop shockingly, almost hilariously fast to your Snap Shot/Aimed Shot alternating.

Here's the build.

ahhh, so you went s/l for using WoC and getting close for drain psyche. i hadn't even considered that i'd ever be using WoC. at the moment everything dies so fast and so far away. but i guess for TF's and harder missions that'd be a really useful backup tactic. and like you said, impatient team mates. thanks for that tip.
