Grav/Nrg build

This is a bare bones look at my planned Grav buildout. i believe I have 112.5% Global rech + hasten. So, the permadom thing is solved.

I am thinking of foregoing Crush, and getting teleport self later, but not sure, with stealth pool and fly, TP self is of limited use. Or I could get team teleport, but that is a vet power I have. Anyways, these are somewhat preference questions.

The important questions are how does the buildout look? Will it work? i am new to mids, of course I plan on getting the non purples at 35th level, not sure how to manage that in mids. And i will be playing with the blank enhancer slots as well, but this is the thrust of the build.

thanks in advance for any tips.

Get Power Push. It's a very quick to animate blast with decent damage nowadays and absurdly high accuracy. It's your best DPA attack.

The single target melee attacks hit like trucks as well. Bone Smasher is quick to animate and hits hard (slightly harder than Propel but animates 2 seconds faster) and has a 50/50 chance to stun. With Domi up it will stun bosses half the time.

Total Focus is as slow as Propel to animate but does twice the damage(!) and comes with a guaranteed Mag 3 stun which benefits from Dominate.

Plus with the way range checks work you can Power Push something horrible and have a melee attack queued and the melee attack will still hit even if the enemy in the process of being knocked back. This means you can PP something and do the annoying TF Hang Time animation and the poor sap will be clobbered by it just as they're finding their feet, which means they get up stunned.

PP > Bone Smasher is a great combo as well for the same reasons

I would never drop crush. For pvp and for AV's crush is great for slowing movement. Most of your grav moves have inherent movement slows which is invaluable in pvp and against big strong guys.

This makes sense. I pretty much blastroller right now, hitting my 3 main Blaster attacks almost always when not AoE Hold and *fav* wormhole. I will venture into a mob once in a while for the Whirling Hands thing, but not go out of my way for it. I prefer to wormhole a group onto itself if with a big team (so i dont mess other players arcs up to much) or pull/plant a group where i want them for easier grinding.

I really am having problems finding room on this build to get Power Push. I need the melee attacks, obviously, because I do lean on them, especially Energy transfer. i may need to drop invisibility. I have stealth in fly, and its ghetto, but does okay.

You took Energy Torrent with no slots? =/

Get rid of Whirling Hands and give its slots to Energy Torrent. You'll thank me later.

Drop dimension shift, pick up Power Push.

If you're leaning on Energy Transfer, you might also want to include it in the build. >.>

Yeah, i am gonna redo the build today or tomorrow. I think you are right, whirling hands has to go. And yes, of course, I am leaning on Energy Transfer. Stacking ST stuns/holds is saving my fragile butt. As much as we all love AoE I just do not have the agro control to confidently charge into tough mobs and pop that baby. I find myself (conditions perfect) about 10-20 feet from the edge of mobs, either standing or hovering. When I do get in close it is when I am 99% sure agro is managed/or there are only a couple. Then, i can handle 3 pretty easily. A hold on one, Energy transfer on another, hold is up again for 3rd. then kill one, reapply holds, rinse, repeat. Currently at 47. Running ITF and LGTF for experience/merits. Also, not leveling to match this build as I was planning on respecing, and wanted to experiment with various powers. I am really loving the build. I do know it is not the most powerful dom build by far, but it really fits my concept. I am actually starting a short story for the character and may even sketch a bit on it. Wish I could squeeze Propel onto the build. That crap is just funny, and fits my concept. Its all about gravity and teleportation and robots. Not even sure how it would fit into the attack chain if I had it though. Guess I could hang slightly farther back and use it instead of Power Burst. Anyways I will try to post the 2nd version build up. Thanks for the tips.

It looks like you want to play a ranged build. That's fine. But if you are, then don't bother with ET or WH. You can take your 3 blasts from your 2ndary, powerpush, snipe, crush, lift, GD, and proc'd CF for your basic ranged attacks. Then add in energy torrent and explosive blast from APPs. That would give you an arsenal of ranged attacks.

Early levels would be more single target juggling, but once you had your APPs, you could do some nasty AoE dmg with proc'd CF, torrent and exp blast. Just worm into a corner and unload. Singy would serve as your offensive lineman for anything that tries to get into melee.

Please buff Ice Control.

Just to add a comment
As i understand it the teleport team power works differently from assemble the team vet power in that you can teleport all surrounding friendlies to a determined location f.eks you and singy can teleport into a middle of a mob. Assemble the team does what the powers says and is used as a gathering tool.

Things I would change:

You took Stealth as a Luck of the Gambler Mule, I STRONGLY recommend leadership. Maneuvers boosts your entire team's defense, and can hold the luck proc just as well as Stealth, without the movement penalty. Also, any toon that can take power boost MUST take Vengeance, it's a 2 button emergency brake for teamwipes.

You took Dimension Shift. Don't take Dimension shift. You slotted dimension shift. Don't do that either. Seriously. Like I said above, if you're worried about a 'oh crap, we're gonna wipe' function, power boosted Vengeance leaves Dimension shift standing.

Were I you, I'd drop Crush like a psychotic girlfriend with a straight razor. Get Bone Smasher instead. Crush has slows on it, and it's Mag 4, BUT, the damage is pretty mediocre, and more importantly, the timeframe for all the ticks is like 10 seconds. Bone Smasher does twice as much damage, and it does it RIGHT NOW. If you're doing your job right, the stuff you'll be punching is a helpless anyway.

I'm not a fan of Snipers for Doms, even for a recharge mule. Dominators are heavily animation bound, and an attack that animates for over 4 seconds is a complete waste, imo. It's only useful as a solo opener, and honestly you're still better off just using your control powers.

As others have said, whirling hands is a DOG. Drop it, slot Crushing Field for damage and stick a couple procs in there. I use 5xPositron's Blast and the Crushing Impact damage proc.

Here, this is my Grav/NRG build. I took Mu Mastery for aesthetic reasons, but there's little reason you can't customize this for your own toon.

Hasten has maybe 4 seconds of downtime, and of course you have permadom. You don't have propel, but if you're really insistent on getting it, drop Power Push and pick it up. It's definitely a suboptimal choice, though, doing marginally more damage for over 3 times the animation. If you REALLY want to make a build that leverages Propel, roll a Grav/Rad controller. Double damage from containment is what redeems that power. Anyway, take it for a spin. I guarantee you'll love hover slotted for movement, once you try it out, it's hard to go back.
