Looking for a psychic.

I just finished a Loyalist run through Praetoria. Good times. I want to make a Resistance run, and because I'm just a bit of a roleplayer, I want to run through as someone psychic. Ya know, on the run from the Seers and Tilman? Stuff writes itself.

Problem is, most of my experience is with various forms of melee characters. My loyalist was a EM/Shield brute, and that worked out wonderfully, though I suspect Fury helped greatly. This time, I want to run a ranged character, though I'd still like them to be able to hold their own, solo-like.

So, I'm looking for something. Something that has a psionic primary or secondary, that can take care of itself. Does such a beast exist in-game?

Thanks in advance,

Doom.

Easy- make a mind/psi dominator. Ranged? Check. Melee? Check. Control? Check. Soloability? Check. Killer gameplay? Check.

This would have everything you are looking for and give it to you in all kinds of fun ways you never thought possible.

Words to the wise aren't necessary- it's the stupid ones that need them.

"You're right...I forgot...being constantly at or the near the damage cap is a big turn off. Definitely not worth it."

Heck, any kind of /Psi dom would fit the bill. Elec/Psi seems to be very popular for its sapping capabilities.

Mains (Freedom) @Auroxis
Auroxis - Emp/Rad/Power Defender Pylon Video Soloing an AV
Pelvic Thunder - SS/Elec/Mu Brute
Sorajin - Elec/Nin Stalker
Neuropain - Sonic/Mental/Elec Blaster

Mind controllers are also plenty of fun.

Another option of course is to re-color another power set purple and call it psychic. I and a few others have done this with Kinetic Melee to make a 'psychic melee'.

Why a dominator instead of a controller?

Because dominators have higher damage output and melee attacks which make them feel more similar to the brute you mentioned enjoying before.

That said, both dom's and controllers are great ways to enjoy the Mind Control set.

What Blue_Fenix said. Mind-Psi dominator is simply more selfishly fun than the controller options.

Theoretically, a Mind Controller could leverage it's damage with greater safety and utility after getting into the 40+ game, but prior to the 40s, Mind control is more like a Psychic blaster with a weakened Defender set. A Dominator is more like a Blaster/Scrapper that doesn't need to baby-sit any teammates, just exert your will and destroy anything that you feel like at the moment. It's more of a "Playstyle" difference than anything else.

Just so that you know all your options, you can also make a Psychic/Mental Blaster. It's a very utilitarian combination, with a nice range of attack types (ST, AoE, Mez inducers, Melee, etc.).

That being said, if you want to create a psychic character who can solo from the get-go, go with the Dominator. You get most of the best tools from the blaster sets in Psionic Assault, plus a whole control set. It's definitely the way to go.

@Winter. Because I'm Winter. Period.
I am a blaster first, and an alt-oholic second.

Some of the Seer effects remind me of Sonic Blast. You could make a Sonic/Mental blaster. The sleep in Sonic can help survivability. I think it can also let you use Drain Pysche without retaliation.

I rolled the Mind/Psi Dom. I haven't had much time to play her, yet, but it's looking to be good times. Thanks, all, for the help.
