Using respecs to get rid of fitness

Okay, just came back to the game, and heard that if you have a Respec available, and use it before Dec 8th, you will automatically get another one.

Is this the case? I'd like to just wipe out the fitness pool and then be able to use another later if my build is all wonky after recent changes.

Been away from the game for about 3 years, so I am a bit behind on current affairs.

Yes, your characters all had a freespec (/respec) on them from the release of Going Rogue.

Any character who had used up their freespec's were given a new one upon the release of i19. So all characters had one at that point.

You can use your CURRENT freespec to spec out of fitness pool, update powers, sell off old enhancements in favor of new ones etc.

If you mess up or don't get things quite right, or want to save more than 10 enhancements from out of your current build, you will get ANOTHER freespec on Dec. 8th, although I am not sure what the exact timing on that will be.

Freespec's do NOT stack, you can have only one, so use'em or lose'em. That being said, if you can get the job done with the freespec you have now, then after Dec.8th you will have one saved for emergency use.

You may also have 'veteran' respecs available under your Veteran Badges tab if you have accumulated enough paid time over the years.

Hope that answers your questions, more info in the Patch Notes in the Announcements section.

Too many alts to list

You can't respec out of Fitness. It's inherently inherent.

Pretty sure he knows that. I read it as him wanting to respec so it becomes inherent on his characters, as most or all of them probably have it as a pool.

Correct. Any toons I have that are high enough lvl, actually almost all of them, have it as a power I selected.

Thanks for the info. I'll attempt to do this before the 8th.

Kinda sucks that you can only keep 10 enhancements, I think I had just installed some pretty nice ones on my scrapper previous to quitting. I can't even remember quite how a respec works. Of course, that was all really new at that time, so what I have is probably crap. Heh.

Anyway, thanks again.

It's not that you can only keep 10 enhancements when doing a respec, it's that you can only keep 10 enhancements THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO PUT BACK INTO SLOTS.

When you do the respec, first you'll re-pick all of your powers; next you'll re-add all of your slots to those powers; and finally you get a big listing of all your enhancements and you get a chance to put them back into the slots.

If you want to, you can take up to 10 of those enhancements and put them into the "enhancement tray" and keep them unslotted (you can only hold 10 in the tray).

All the other enhancements need to be put back into slots or else they automatically get sold back to the game (for full price if a TO/DO/SO but just for crafting cost if an IO).

Oh and to access your "freespec" just type /respec into the command window.

Hello, my name is Soulwind and I have Alt-Itis.

Ahhhh! I remember that, now. Thanks Soulwind.

It's a way to get rid of some that you would just lose, but I think most of my toons had just lvled to where I needed to change them out.

Thanks much for the help.

The nice thing about respecs is that if you have any Enhancements you want to just get rid of (not pull out and sell to the market or anything) you can turn any number of them into Influence. I don't think you get much more than selling them to the store, but there is no limit. So you can:

1) pull out up to 10 Enhancements that you can then store or put on the Market

2) rearrange your Enhancements in your powers however you wish (even changing the number of slots in powers)

3) sell any number of Enhancements for inf by just leaving them in the area where they are all stored until you decide where to put them

The bad thing about respecs, of course, is that this process is so tedious.

When doing your respec don't panic when you see the Fitness set disappear when choosing your powers. It's working as intended. It will reappear when you start adding slots to the powers you have chosen.

Thanks, all great advice. I'll be back tomorrow looking for help with all the stuff I screwed up tonight.

unless something changed, I believe you get back full purchase price for DOs and SOs that you sell via the respec interface. I will frequently use a respec on characters when they hit levels 32 or 37 to sell back all their older SOs at full price and then go buy new level 35 or 40 SOs. or wait until I am ready to move from SO slotting to IO slotting for several powers and sell off the SOs being replaced.

however, for crafted enhancements, then you only get back something like 1/2 the crafting cost and nothing for the expense of the salvage that went into the enhancement. this reflects the cost of building memorized enhancements. I think you used to get back the full (non-memorized) crafting cost but that changed several issues ago. guess people were completely outfitting characters with memorized IOs right before a respec was coming and then selling them for the full non-memorized price. at level 50, that would add up to a pretty fair amount of cash.

not as important now as I have a lot more spare cash on hand than I did in the "old" days before WW marketing. but it was a great way to upgrade to new SOs at a very marginal cost.

I thought it was full crafting cost not including what you paid for the recipe and salvage. Be kind of screwy if they gave you full price for SOs and shafted you on the more expensive IOs. (More expensive as in they cost more than SOs)

Edit: Didn't realize you played on Pinnacle AlbinoBull. That's my home server, shoot me a tell in-game if you need any real time help, my global is @Claws and Effect. Also, I take it from your character named Vege-Might that you are an Aussie? (or possibly a Kiwi, pretty sure they sell it in both countries)

Ahh, good ol Vege-Might.

No, I am an American, but I game with a group called TOG (The Older Gamers) that is based in Aus.

It was a joke for some of my old friends from way back. He is pretty awesome looking, though. Just like a tall jar of the offensive brown goop.

I will have to hit you up for some advice on WrrL my Claws/Regen scrapper, when I finally get around to tweaking him a bit for the new stuff.

Had almost zero time to mess with respecs last night. Dang holiday time and it's endless parties with friends, good drinks and great live music.

It TOTALLY ruins my playing time.

Respecs return only the crafting cost for set IOs and the memorized crafting cost of common IOs. It has no memory of what you paid in the markets to buy the items because a player could get them as a drop or a trade.

As a matter of fact if you pickup cheap common IOs you can make inf in a respec.
