Ark of Truth indicated that the gates came completely after the split evident by Amelius' notebook that he grabs as he is walking out. It is open to a sketch of a Stargate and he mentions that a new idea as he walks out.

I don't ever recall seeing the Ori use gates outside of the supergate now that I think about it.

God I hope so because when you look at how long ago the Destiny was launched, you have to think the Ancients knew how long the journey would take and it seems incredibly stupid to think they assumed only one ship would survive 60 MILLION years to complete the mission.

Oh and I find it amusing that they just assumed that their descendants would be able to walk aboard Destiny and understand what to them after 60 million years would be prehistoric technology.

I was in the Navy and I remember the problems they had when they recommissioned the Battleships. They had a hard time getting modern technology to work with the main guns and they literally had almost no one left alive that knew how to train the new people in how to operate those weapon systems.

I also seem to recall that modern experts in the fields looking at old sailing ships don't know how some of the ships were constructed because no one kept those knowledge skills documented. I've heard similar things from the enthusiasts that restore old warplanes.

On a bit of a side note, MGM got approval for it's restructuring plan and they expect to exit bankruptcy in a few weeks which is a good step in the right direction for the planned Stargate movies.

My dad and I watched it yesterday and I thought it was a decent/good episode.

As far as the insects/aliens doing the 'jerk move'...how do you know that the aliens don't 'work for' or are 'enslaved' by the robotic drone army? Maybe they help the drones out for whatever reason...maybe the drones are a part of their own army/etc.

2 "quibbles" about the ep. though for me. When Telford comes in and says 'follow me into the star (sun).' Where was a star all this time? I don't remember seeing one anywhere....

Then the 2nd "quibble" from me. Okay once they went through the sun/star and the drones were not a threat (atm)...why did they 'trust' Telford...why didn't he go through all the "can't trust you...you may be an alien/alien copy..." thing like the "old crew" went through the episode before?

But anyways...I think Chloe just sent an SOS to the aliens that captured her and that those aliens have been fighting these 'drones' for a while so they come in, destroy them and then maybe re-take Chloe...*shrugs*

Quibbles - I decided to let those slide unless someone ese brought them up.

The only problem with the SOS idea is that it requires rescue to be virtually on top of Destiny even with hyperspace travel. They were dropped in the middle of a firefight in a badly damaged ship. Their lives being measured in minutes. Reinforcements arriving in time will be totally unbelievable to me.

Now I could buy that Chloe sent a deactivation signal to the command ship. I could believe that the drones are weapons controlled by the aliens that are changing her.
