Inception's definitive spoiler: Removing ambiguity from the final scene

From this moment forward, by reading this thread you risk not only spoilers of Inception, but meta-spoilers. See, the thrill of Inception's ending is that it's very confusing and vague. Some people (like me), can't settle for that. They must know.

***SPOILERS***
Michael Caine has your back. On the other side of this link is not just the definitive answer, but evidence that it is correct.

Enjoy and discuss!

I don't know what to believe other than that movie was flipp'n awesome and I can't wait to get it on BluRay and watch again .

I also hope Nolan casts Marion Cottliard as Catwoman . That scene in the hotel when Cobb grabs Ariadne and they race to the elevator before Mal can kill her and she looks up at them , sold it for me that she could do Catwoman justice .

Eh, it's Michael Caine saying it, not Nolan. His interpretation is as valid as any one of ours.

And there is nothing to say that Cobb wasn't dreaming his meeting with Caine (and in fact, the whole "real" world) along the lines Mal was suggesting when she killed herself.

Keeping hope alive I see?

I am a Lost fan. I take delight in thinking about all the possible explanations

Actually, I do believe the ending was in the real world, but clearly Nolan wanted to leave it as ambiguous as can be. And I dig.

I always kind of wanted to think that the ending scenes were the only ones that ever actually took place in the 'real world' myself and that everything in the film was people performing an Inception on him.

Just planting the seed of an idea ...

I also like the idea that Inception is Nolan's love letter/criticism of moviemaking, with Leo being the director, JGL being the producer, Ellen Page as the set designer, Tom Hardy as the actor, Wantabe is the financer, and the chemist, uh, being the SFX guy.

Also is funny to consider that Leo and Nolan look kinda alike.

I'd like to see a link to this.

There's no way this is unintentional:

Obviously Nolan is Leo from the future.

No. That he needed to let go of his wife. The entire thing seemed well set-up to force him to come to terms with his wife's death.

Of course, I also always liked that idea about the film being a commentary on film-making too.

My local Community College is having a free showing of the film tomorrow night in their theater (which is honestly rather nice). I'm really thinking about going.
