Dual emp/sonics

So a buddy and I are working on two emp/sonics to run together, primarily teaming alone so we can buff each other to crazy levels. I'm getting ready to plan the builds and I'm wondering if there is really much of a point in going for IO set bonuses.

With Fort, Adrenaline Boost, the auras, tactics, assault, maneuvers, and hasten is there really that much more benefit we can gain from IO sets? If so, what do yall think we should shoot for? I haven't looked at the numbers yet, but I'm guessing we'll need a little bit of global recharge to make hasten perma, but it can't be that much.

As always, thoughts, comments, and suggestions greatly appreciated!

Wouldn't "teaming alone" imply me, myself and I J/K

I'm guessing you're both taking the fighting pool to get to cap.

Anyway, have you taken into consideration defense debuffs. This falls under what you'll be fighting as a duo.

Once you aggro all the stuff you'll be fighting how you gonna herd or hold them?

Using sleeps from sonic is fine if ya wanna play it single target defeat. Personally on that setup I'd rather go for Web Env from Mace mastery and spam those fockers with dual howls. As a bonus you could take Scorpion Shield as well.

I'd go for recharge, defense and damage bonuses

Just an idea.

Keep in mind that i19 is supposed to be coming out this Tuesday and you will have inherent fitness as well as the Alpha Slot to add into the mix.

No doubt. I'm having a hard time making up my mind about the alpha on my defenders, so many ways to go.

Welcome to the game on easy mode, I run a duo (and a trio, yes three accounts) like this, it really is quite powerful and safe. With a pair of Emp's you get

  • Unlimited Endurance (since you going to be staggering the Auras)
  • Tons of recharge (since you'll be able to AB yourselves)
  • Capped Defense without Sets (you'll need Maneuvers/Weave/(Hover or CJ) for this)
  • Status protection thats "Tank-a-Riffic" with Clear Mind.
Feel free to take (and you should) Assault on both toons since you'll have endurance to burn, with a duo all you need to do is three-slot your Aura's to stagger them nicely.

As for making Hasten Perma, well, once you have AB (and three recharges) you really won't need to but you can with some sets.

Don't bother with Tactics, as 2x Fort allows you to basically not slot any ACC in most powers and Clear mind has a +Perception bonus so you can take Vengeance instead

Thunderstrikes are a nice and cheap set that will get you some nice bonuses, your ranged Defense will be silly.

Again, welcome to this game on easy mode....

As for your APP, I went with Dark for Oppressive Gloom, with your Aura's running you wont even see the HP drain and things that come to you will often get stunned and be easy pickings.

Certain characters I know exactly what I'm doing. Other characters, the jury is still out. Thankfully there's only two major characters I plan on focusing out of the gate. One I know exactly what I'm doing Alpha wise, the other I have absolutely no clue so I'll play that by ear.

In short, win will be around the corner, especially for my farm-capable Stalker.

Cap your defences.
Hover, Double Manouvers and Fortitude, all slotted up, is 38% or so. A couple of Thunderstrikes will do wonders there. Razzle Dazzle in Screech for extra M/AoE, maybe Aegis in your epic armour for hefty AoE.
Oh yeah, and the Steadfast IO in your epic armour.
If you use Shockwave, melee defence becomes less of an issue. If not, Enfeebled Operation in an epic pool immobilise is a good buy for over 4% bonus.

Get KB protetcion, since Clear mind doesn't provide it.

If you're taking Hasten, slotting for Recharge is probably dubious. Sonic has quick recycling AoEs, so you'll already have an all AoE attack chain if you want it, and Hasten + AB + slotting should be enough for perma-Hasten and AB. You're maybe a little tiny bit short, so gathering up an extra 20% or so (eg Doctored Wounds in Regen Aura, AB, Healing Aura and Heal Other) wont hurt, and provides Frankenslotting bonuses over SOs anyway, ie almost maxes out Recharge and Healing or so in 5 slots.

Those are great tips yall, I really appreciate it. I'm hoping we can do some real crazy stuff as a duo. We both like to push ourselves, so maybe we'll try to duo an ITF or something.
