Pet Dismiss & Go To Buttons?

As someone that's been playing a Poison/Merc MM for the past 5 years, I've become sickened with all of my grey macro buttons. Now, I know it can't be helped but just seeing a "blah" grey button with white text makes be think that there is so much missing in customization, especially now with Ultra Mode's HUGE graphical update.

That aside, I know when I've got my pet window open, I can see 5 icons: Attack My Target , Go To , Follow Me , Stay , and Dismiss . However, in the Powers Window, under Basic Pet Commands, the only icons that can be placed in the powers tray are Attack My Target, Follow Me, and Heel.

I've never understood why Dismiss (since it's a major command) or Go To are not available as icons to drag into the power trays. I've either got them set up as macros or keybinds.

My question: has anyone found a slash command to place the actual Dismiss or Go To Power Icons in a tray so that we don't have to use a generic macro button?

I'm surprised that there isn't more personalized customization when it comes to setting up powers with the button icon of your choosing.

Anyway, has anyone found any other tips and tricks when it comes to adding buttons/powers to the tray that aren't selectable from the Powers Window?

Just click and drag the icon you want from your pet window to your tray. You can even right click and edit the contents.

You can do this with the aggressive, defensive, and passive stance icons as well.

My tray has three icons across it. The first is the attack my target icon, which only orders the top two tiers to attack and does not change them to aggressive mode. The second is a shield icon which puts everything in defensive follow, the third is a passive icon which puts everything in passive stay. I have my G key bound to tell all pets to goto defensive.

The Dismiss and Go To buttons are the only ones not draggable. Since you can't drag buttons from the Pet drop down, and can only drag currently selected/active pet commands, Go To and Dismiss are not able to be set as active.

Go To, once selected, only shows the Go To rings where your mouse is pointed, but the commands that are active don't show the Go To Command. Same with Dismiss. You can't select it to be the active command because, once selected, it dimisses the pets causing the commands in the window to despawn along with the pets. :/

Mmm...

I really do not use all the possible buttons MMs could have for pet control. In general drag from the Pet Window the go "Attack" designated target, and "Stay" buttons. Normally I find myself dismissing pets because they get stuck when zoning, but I use the command "/releasepets" and I am done.

In general, I find the buttons don't work anyway and the pets do as they please especially with the stay here, while I explore...

Yeah. I find it interesting that the pet commands buttons aren't considered powers, just macro buttons with a special graphic. I can place the Aggressive Icon in the tray and edit the command from "petcom_all Aggressive" to "petcom_all dismiss".

It makes me wonder why we don't have more editable macro buttons like the Aggressive, Defensive, Passive, and Architect Comlink accolade buttons. That or allow us to make a macro and choose an ingame icon to use as the button graphic.

Guess I'll have to stick with my Aggressive button edited to Dismiss or just keep using the blahhhh grey macro buttons.

You might want to take a look at CityBinder, a program that has tons of binds built in, including a bunch of customizable Mastermind binds. CityBinder even has a "Attack Target while in Bodyguard Mode" command. I chose to set up my MM binds on the Keypad, but only while holding the Alt key. But CityBinder lets you use any keys you want. You can also save your set-up to use on all your masterminds, or save it and make small modifications unique to each character.

You have to download the original program, and then download the recent update that adds most of the more recent powersets. The original Author, Monorail, has left the game but Thor79 was nice enough to create an update.

CityBinder also has the "Speed-on-Demand" binds build in. This creates a system where you automatically go into Sprint whenever you push a directional key, then turns Sprint off when you let go of the key. It works for Hover/Fly as well, so you never have to slot Hover with Flyspeed. But there are a few bugs that you have to live with if you use SoD. It is not uncommon for the system to get stuck in autorun, where you need to hit a reset key combination (default is CTRL-R) to break the autorun. The bug most often happens when zoning, so it is not much of a problem.

Surprisingly few people know about CityBinder. Part of the problem is that you need to understand a small amount about binds. And then the documentation and interface are not exactly "user friendly." But I have been using it on my characters for over 4 years now and every new character gets set up with my standard binds and customized binds with CityBinder. I have created a set of "Ultra binds" for most powersets. If I roll up another character with that powerset, I can just pull up the "ultra bind" set without having to re-design the binds. So my Dark/Elec Defender, Thugs/Dark MM and Fire/Dark Corrupter all use the Ultra binds set for Dark Miasma. Then I adjust it for each character's needs.

I know you can have the GoTo in your Power Tray, because I have it there...

But anyway, they're just simple images. Corva_NA made a pack of New Power Icons, and the MM Pet Icons get replaced, along with other stuff:

There they are. In order: Attack My Target, Follow Me, Heel, All GoTo, All Stay.

This is Corva_NA's current default pet command icon set, he has the gray background for the stance icons as an alternative.

As for getting go to onto your tray, if you switch to advanced mode, once you give them the command, the go to icon does persist and you can drag it.

I'm dead serious when I say this and mean no insult, but I'm amazed people try to control pets with macros. How do you even have room for them all in your tray?

I use a modified version of this:

Oh, don't get me wrong. I've got at least 100 binds set, at least 50 are for my pets. (Yes, I have individual commands for each pet.) I'm mostly asking about aesthetics. The only buttons I use for pets are the macros I made for Dismissing as well as some random emotes.

I'm just amazed that there are so many powers and pet commands and not that many options for them without having to make binds.

When I was a noob at MM's, 5 years ago, I was the type of person that only used the assoicated buttons available in the power window. Seeing that newer players, and people just getting into MM's, might not have the knowledge of setting binds, players might be dissapointed seeing what's offered in dev created controls since there are only three pet commands in the power window

I know when I first made my MM, I was dissapointed and after a few weeks I was considering deleting the alt until I accidentally happened upong a bind guide.

Likewise serious and meaning no insult, but I'm amazed you need that level of control. Ok, so all I have is a high level bots/traps to speak from, but still, hear me out.

I tell them to follow me in bodyguard mode. I initiate every fight. Occasionally there is a boss which needs to be focused on, in which case I press my attack macro (it leaves the drones in defensive follow, only ordering Assbot and Prots to attack (also leaving them in defensive, so when they lose aggro they will immediately fall back into bodyguard)). I also have a goto defensive bind that sends all my robots to a single spot, used for AV fights to keep them out of AoE range, but in BG and Triage Beacon range.

I have the macros set up to call popmenus. I only need 3 macros to pick which command (goto, attack, follow) I want to use then I pick which group of pets it will effect and what stance they should take.

I don't control them too often to any degree, but I do like the "Go there, passive, stay" combo when I'm scouting around and don't want aggro magnets to follow. Or I can herd a room with a debuff and have a nasty surprise waiting for enemies around the corner

I also use the zombies attack that, knights attack that other one, lich attack a third a lot (when hunting lowbies for badges or whatever)

Sometimes there's a problem enemy sniping away at me and I want to distract them. I hit numpad2 then enter and my knights are all over them. Leaving the rest doing what they were doing.

It's just really useful to control them by group. I don't go so far as to control them individually. I've never thought that'd be useful.
