Discussion: Announcing the Loading Screen Contest Winners!
Congrats to all!
As Founders' Falls was the winning entry, I'd like to see what everyone submitted for this zone. This was my entry… [cool screen] This took me 3 days and over 200 screen shots (that white line in the monorail only appears like that when the sun hits it just right for a few seconds every hour or so and there was a pesky mob I had to keep killing near the speedboat). And yes, I had just finished watching the Doctor Who "Don't Blink" episode when I started this. Now, let's see yours! |
P.D.: Man, the design of the hero screens it's exasperating. Pretty hard to fit some stuff in them because they are all rectangles (like the FF's obelisk plaza). Villain's are irregular and in different shapes and easier to find a row to fit the stuff you want.
Congratulations to all the winners and runners up, those are fantastic! Can't wait to see them in game

I'm glad my loading screen for peregrine Isles made it into the runner ups. I am just wondering what they are going to do with all of the other submissions I had.
I did one for every Hero Zone except for Rikti (and the 3rd outline for the Hero zones thing wasn't working for me).
I didn't do any villains though because I wanted to invest my energy into places I was at least vaguely familiar with.
Also, where were you Kalistoh when I was taking my pictures in test?
I could've used that info.

EDIT 2:
If anyone is interested in seeing all of my entries, they are all in this photo bucket gallery. I was waiting until the contest was over and the winners announced before I showed them to people, just in case.

Personally I liked the runners-up more than the winners (for the most part) but...*shrugs*

What's terrible to me is that I can see clearly where I went wrong in this contest. When I opened the first template, all that blue was too much for me. So my screenshots incorporate a lot of color. Looking at the winners and runners-up, that was so the opposite of what the judges were looking for. 2/3s of the placers, including all three winners, are almost monochromatic, ranging from blue to olive drab to gray. Oh well, live and learn. I'll get it right next time.
Gratz to everyone up there.
Just wanted to say I appreciate that my entry was picked as a runner up (I'm A. Jonic xD). I was praying and praying that I'd at least get runner up. And then one night while watching RvB, I got the email.
As a note of creativity, I would like to say that my screenshots went from green and grassy, to a bit more destroyed, and then finally to post-apocolyptic.
I disliked how The Hollows' old loading screen showed NONE of the destroyed areas of the zone, I wanted to touch up a little bit more on that.
Also, I hated how the first (Upper left) picture came out. I wanted to brighten it up in Photoshop, however I didn't know if that was allowed.
I appreciate the congrats, everyone. And congrats to all the other winners up there.
Edit:
Oh yeah, I was loling pretty hard when I saw none of the top 3 were from the USA XD I dunno why but it was pretty funny to me.
I'm pretty pleased to have scored a runner up slot. Thanks to everyone who did the selection. Congrats to all the winners.
