IO Build--WP/SS; Feeback is Fantastic

Heyas all,

I've really had fun with my WP/SS tank. Despite the weak taunt aura, with FS going strong and careful play I think I do well with aggro. I have the resources to put together the build below, but I'm hoping the forum think tank might be able to help me tweak a few things. My goals are as below:

1. Strong Survival--I've stacked a lot of HP/Regen. My favorite toon of all time was my release regen scrapper. He just didn't die. I'd like to mimic that effect as best I can. Plus, regen is the one defense that helps with everything. By stacking HP/Regen, I'm hoping that I can live through granite-level items.

2. Strong Survival, Part II--Not getting hit is still awesome. I haven't soft capped all defense, but I'm at 30% to psi, close to 45% with smashing/lethal, and all other defenses are solid.

3. Solid Play--The remainder of my build is designed to keep me without an obvious weak point. Solid offense, solid recharge, solid damage, solid overall play. Recovery shouldn't be a weak point, my attack chain will be mostly FS for AoE with Kick, Jab, Haymaker, and KOB being the ST chain.

Where have I blown it and exceed the 5 bonus rule? Where can I tweak things?

I really appreciate feeback; the CoH tanker community has always been a fantastic resource, and I really appreciate the time you all take to help in efforts like this.

Aside from Regen, Physical Perfection doesn't add much on a WP/. I'd go for Mu mastery, and slot a Positron's/Ragnarok set into Ball Lightning. It'll help a lot with your Aggro control and AoE DPS.

Off the top of my head (I'm familiar with SS, not so much with WP):

-- If you're impartial between Kick and Boxing as far as how they look and how they fit with your concept, Boxing is the better attack. It animates faster and only does a few less points of damage.

-- You're one over the 5x cap on 10% regen bonuses.

-- I'd see if you can peel some slots away from other things to get some better slotting on your attacks. You may not need any more endredux on them, but you're definitely gonna want them to cycle faster for your attack chain.

If you can somehow wrangle your way to pulling two slots and moving them into RttC, you can slot a pair of common 50 Taunt IOs ... which will DRAMATICALLY improve your aggro holding potential by allowing your taunt aura to permanently double stack.


It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

In Mids', got to the top menu, select "Window," select "Sets & Bonuses." Or use the hotkey Ctrl-B (as in "bonuses").

That will tell you in red if you exceed the rule of five anywhere.

This first two posts on this page are good for builds.

I think you have a considerable amount of wasted slots or poorly chosen powers.

Examples:

Physical Perfection/Conserve Power are both fairly poor for a willpower tank.

If you are going to single slot a travel power, put the 20% slow resistance in it!

Almost everything you have from regen is really really overslotted. Fast Healing has lost 50% of your enhancement value which is just throwing slots away.

Your best survivability powers from IO sets are defence first. Regen is already through the roof. Once you soft cap defence then you will be invincible to anything except defence debuff. Regen is totally unnecessary to focus on; +hit point sets are nice and usually come in sets that you want anyway (Numina, LOTG, Kinetic Combat, etc).

My same feedback on Footstomp comes through here as well: it's your only AOE on this build so it MUST be slotted appropriately. Right now you might have trouble spamming it. Even with your power selection it costs a lot to use and you will honestly want to use it every time it is up. I doubt you can afford ~16 endurance if you intend to use it how it should be. I would honestly go frankenslotting it before sacrificing the powers usability.
