6-9 months ago I've been rolling 50% of my merits in 10-14 range and another 50% in 35-39 range. I found that 10-14 was quite profitable. Shield breakers, Theft of the Essence, Call to Arms, Clouded Senses and Eradication still commanding fairly good prices on market, and I saw Basilisk Quad selling in 80-120M range. 10-14 also gives best chance for BotZ KB prot, but it's prices went down significantly since i18.
(I like rolling 10-14 for AE tickets, even though you get a lot of junk. But I have an irrational fear of wasting hard-earned merits on such a roll, so I've never done it.)
End of the line for me tonight! I started this on October 4th, finished up November 3rd. I even managed to get 50 merits on Alting, convert and roll them, and then join a Manticore and turn experience back on and gain a full level. 
My big concern this week was I didn't play much on Sunday, only ran a Freakshow War on Tiffany, so by Monday night I had to scramble a bit to get to 50 merits on Alting and then Tuesday I started the night at zero merits, and still had our usual "static" team which ran from 8 to 10 PM. MG didn't even run any TFs that night, but a friend wanted to run Manti after 10 PM so I got that in anyway.
Gonna try to play less this month and do Nanowrimo again. But at some point I'd like to spend a month doing level 50 hero merit rolls, 1 a night, and trying to craft and sell everything and tracking how much money I make or lose doing that.

Great work you have going there. I wish I had more time and altitis to run like this. I was cured of my altism after making my first 50 as a Storm/Dark Defender, then at i13 discovering that I'm addicted to my Widow.
I'd be inclined to just save for purples to finish my 2 1/5 of 5 sets, if I was going to be getting Hero Merits like you are. Might have to run some of those blueside arcs and run TFs more to finish my out some of my non-purples like LoTGs and HO Membranes.
I can't wait to finish slotting, so I can solo the redside respec for merits.

That would be an interesting side effect of doing my other idea -- how much money can you make rolling 1 hero merit a night and crafting and selling everything? At the moment I suspect saving up for one of the most popular PvP IOs would still be worth more, but I'm not sure by how much.

One last thing I meant to post. While I was burning 50 merits a night with Alting, I was earning merits on other characters that I didn't spend. I didn't keep track of who earned what, or how many merits they had before I started, but I ran most of my Freakshow War and Freakalympic runs on Tiffany, and my hami raiders are Mouse and Nina. So when I was done last night, I had:
Tiffany Blackheart: 1,151 merits
Nina Ballerina: 603 merits
Mouse Police: 534 merits
Mouse and Tiffany are currently Vigilantes so I don't anticipate spending any of their merits at the moment. I'm planning to burn 50 a night on Nina for a month (will have to keep earning more obviously), do a hero merit roll, craft and sell and see how much money that nets me.

Manticore takes 40 minutes to 1 hour.
Numina can be done in under an hour -- 50 minutes to about 1 hour 10 depending. This one benefits greatly from placing people in specific zones during the hunt, a leader directing people and people who listen works wonders.
Citadel is usually over an hour, maybe 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 25 minutes depending. MG doesn't run that one as often but I like it since several of my scrappers are softcapped to smashing/lethal.
I'm less certain on Sister and Synapse, I think Sister can be done in 1 1/2 hours, Synapse I know we've done in just over 1 1/2 hours, though it can easily take over 2 hours.
Freakshow War I can solo in 50 minutes, Freakalympics in about 1 hour 10 minutes.

As I started this on Oct 4, I'm planning to run it through Nov 3.
But as of tonight I'm at 3077 merits. Depending on if my goal was 3,000 merits in a month or 100 a month for 31 days -- 3100 merits total -- I think I've already "won".
In any case, I don't see any problem picking up 23 more merits over the next two days. ^_^ But as for my other goal, I'll need to earn 50 merits tomorrow and Wednesday for Alting, that part of the goal is not quite done yet.
