I am pretty new at this MMO Stuff but I noticed that there seems to be a particular slang (that being not a native English Speaker to boot) I do not really understand.

I think Anchor is serving as a Teleport Beacon ?
TP is teleport.

But beyond that I am bewildered and clueless.
Can some of the old Hands please clue me ( and the other noobs ) in ?

I'll just list some of the more common ones.

Anchor: An enemy on which a certain debuff or other power is attached.

For example, Enervating Field from the Radiation Emission powerset is a toggle which is applied to an enemy. If I attach the debuff to Statesman, then Statesman is considered the "Anchor"

LFT - Looking for team. Level 43 Tanker LFT

PST - Please Send Tell. Imperious Task force forming, PST for invite.

TF/SF - Task force or Strike Force. The Lord Recluse SF/The Statesman TF.

TO's, DO's, SO's, and IO's - Training Origin, Dual Origin, Single Origin, and Invention Origin respectively. I hardly ever bother with TO's, I usually just wait until I can slot SO's.

SS and SJ - Super Speed and Super Jump respectively.

Arc ID: 348998 - Becoming a villain
Arc ID: 373341 - To Save a Hero

Got Inf?

Which is completely different from what it used to mean. Though, the other meaning has been fixed, hasn't it?

Basically it refers to killing large numbers of the same types of mobs over and over again. Either for badge credit or xp.

First, Welcome to the game and the forums. Here is what farming is as pertaining to COH.

Farming
  1. The act of repeating an action a number of times for the purpose of earning something from the repeated action. In City of Heroes this most often involves resetting a mission a number of times in order to earn something out of the mission multiple times. Things earned vary from experience, to influence/infamy/prestige, to badge credits.
If I may, please play and learn the game before you resort to farming for anything. Farming is mostly done once you have a lvl 50 or two under your belt, and you have played through most of the content(hopefully).

If you ever find yourself at a point in your toons career that you don't have enough influence for SO's, give me a shout, I will happily donate some funds to cover some expenses for you as well as point you in the direction of earning your own "shinies".

I also can't recommend enough that you check out the Mentor Project.

Just remember that every MMO has its own slang that everybody has to learn. It's just like every job having its own terms and shorthand for things. Some of it here is common to most MMOs, but some is probably unique to this game. Everybody has to learn it whether English is your first language or not.

Good luck to you and have fun.

It seems overwhelming at first but you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly. Most of it is pretty obvious once you realize what we're referring to. One thing we're pretty big on is abbreviation, for example Steel refers to the hero zone Steel Canyon, Sky is Skyway City, IP is Independence Port and so on.

There's a few abbreviations that are context driven, particularly when talking about powers. Things like that sometimes get a bit ambiguous even to vets. For example, "TF" could mean Task Force, (a series of missions for a fixed team from one contact) or it could mean Total Focus (A hard hitting melee attack in several different powersets)

Welcome to the game

If you are on a team or just general (either zone or on a GC [Global Channel]) chat and someone uses terms you do not know - just ask. 9 times out of 10 you will get helpful answers ... the other one ... well, they exist anywhere. That normally means someone I won't team with again if they are that obnoxious/rude.

I regularly use wiki, badge-hunter.com (has information and locations on all badges in-game), and one of the GC's for my home server when I have any questions. There are other sites that have info about the game lore, missions, contacts ... but the 2 I listed are the biggest & IMHO [In My Humble/Honest Opinion] best .

I hope this helps . Remember - there is no such thing as a stupid/silly/bad/wrong question ... the answers however - ermmmmmmm ... that's up fpr debate .

CoH is my absolute 1st MMO that I have played. I understand how you felt in trying to understand the terms that were used in the game. I never did try to find a list of terms myself, but I did pay attention to what everybody was saying and what the context of how the words were used. Fortunately, I met a lot of players that helped me learn. This community is great in that aspect.

Welcome to the game. Hope you have many months of enjoyment here.
