All controller pets run out of a lit oil slick
Yes it is very annoying, I stopped caring after awhile on my ill/ta
The current situation is far better than it was previously, when the pets would run for the hill and NEVER go near the area where the Oil Slick had been burning. That situation was fixed, but the pets still run out of the Slick. At least they will go back into the area when the burn stops, and they are not nearly as desperate to leave the area when it is burning. I suspect that it is "Working As Intended" now, but it really doesn't make sense that invulnerable Phantom Army would need to run out of the burning Oil Slick.
LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

As a newcomer to the TA set I'd say that it's not a problem. It seems like a temporary glitch at best and the pets only skirt around the edges and wipe anything that escapes from the burning conflagration so it's almost a win/win

Well I got the response back from the bug I logged. It's the standard ******** response that QA will verify the bug.
Expect a fix in at least a couple more years.
They've been trying to fix it for years, which is why it's better than it used to be. It's not that they don't care or don't know, it's that it's apparently a really hard bug to fix.

Exactly how would you define a "temporary glitch?" If a problem has existed for at least the last couple of years, I wouldn't exactly call that "temporary." It limits the attacks that pets can make. While Illusion/TA has little problem with it because Phantasm and the Phantom Army can attack from range, it is a big problem for Fire in particular, because its Imps have no ranged attacks. Other pets have stronger melee attacks than ranged attacks.

I mean it's temporary in that the oil slick has a very limited life-span and so the moment it's expended the pets attack again. Invariably there are other targets for them to attack anyhow unless you're down to the last AV in which case they get a moment to put their feet up and have a G&T

yeah good point perhaps "temporary" wasn't the best word but I've not found that it spoils the enjoyment at all. In some ways I can see it's a kind of advantage - it gives the imps a moment of respite especially if they are getting splattered by something tough. Gives them a chance to run out and maybe get a bit of a random heal and lose aggro etc.
Not everyone will see it like tht but maybe cuz I'm a newcomer to the set I've really not found it as a problem

My pets, Fred's pets, everyone's pets. Even decoys run out of a lit oil slick. You heard me! Decoys run out of a lit oil slick! They can't be hurt by anything!
This used to be a long standing MM bug fixed several years after it was reported. I just tested it on my Bots/TA and the bots don't seem to mind the fire. This seems to be controller specific.
Color me disappointed.
I'll log a support ticket.
