My feelings about Sonic match O.Rex's feelings.

Over and above that, I will say that to me the combo of Electric/Sonic will always be unsatisfying because I played Elec/Sonic in beta back when the Elec aura was a damage aura. THEN Elec/Sonic was nice because you could magnify the damage. Now? It feels empty.

Well, you learn a little something everyday. While I'm trying to catch up on my Resistance reading, I noticed that Paragon Wiki doesn't list -resistance or -damage among the things AV's resist. I know they're tied together. Are they only resisted by level scaling?

Ill be honest. For a thematic toon I have called Show-Girl, I used it...then I remade her. I found sonic to be effective, but extremely boring.

I now have her as Illusion/Thermal...It's prettier, the sound effects are better and it's not so darn boring. Oh, and not as slow. I find Sonic res to be very slow in the animation dept.

If I understand correctly, resistance debuffs are resisted by resistance.

For example, let's say you've got a 50% resistance to smashing/lethal damage and someone hits you with a 10% resistance debuff. The actual effect will be resisted by your resistance - in this case, 50% - so you'll end up being debuffed by 10%. You'll go from 50% resistance to 45% resistance.

The other side of the coin is that you'll go from taking 50% damage to 55% damage - effectively increasing damage taken by 10%. If this works the way I think it works, it means that a 20% resistance debuff is exactly as effective as a 20% damage buff, barring the respective caps.

I have an Ill/sonic at 50. I've also got a few other trollers at 50 that are better slotted.

to play, the Ill/sonic is pretty boring - the sonic powers don't have great visual effects that indicate what's happening, unlike say Thermal or Storm

However when teaming in a challenge team as I'm wont to do, when I offer what I should bring, I invariably get asked to bring this because of the sonic. Most melee toons love the effects it gives them and I get yelled at if they don't get their buffs - unlike most other troller powers.

That said, I couldn't tell you how it solo'd... well I could, very badly especially at low level. It tends to do DPM rather than DPS. From my understanding of Elec control which I've only got limted experience with there may be a bit of an end mitigation but frankly I'm not sure it will give you too much of a benefit.

Personally for a solo toon I suspect /sonic would work well with a much harder control toon; earth/sonic would be a nice combo cuz of the solid controls that earth gives - lock 'em down and debuff 'em to hell and back and a pet to hang the rings around

But with all that said I'm not really a numbers person so someone will almost certainly offer a counterpoint.

I'd suggest try it and give us a report once you've got to 40ish

Sonics has the best looking shields. That's enough for me.

It pairs well with Electric because there are very few skills that need to be activated mid combat in Sonics, this lets you spam Electric Fences, Jolting Chain, EPPs/APPs, and Tesla Cage non stop.

Liquefy is really powerful when you look at it as creating a single set that can grant 40% resistance and nearly 40% ToHit debuff-- that is a lot of mitigation barring the knockdown and hold on [Liquefy]. It probably should have a shorter recharge though...
