Disney princesses reimagined as superheroes

Or a fan of Chinese cinema.
Can you honestly say that without Disney, you would have known the story of Ballad of Mulan? It's a poem written in China in the 6th century. The poem became a novel in the late 16th or early 17th century, and unless you study Chinese literature, you'd have never known of its existence without Disney's help.

Also, I'm not sure why you care that Disney created movies based on public domain poems, stories, and fairy tales. It's a retelling to reach the new generation. For bonus points, the Disney movies tend to stay fairly close to the original plot (the recent Princess and the Frog notwithstanding, but that was an intentional inversion of the original story). The Lion King even mirrors scenes from Kimba the White Lion in some places, though that's a controversy for another day.
