Storm is doable. Freezing rain has a lot of defense debuff, resistance debuff, and slow to stack with snowstorm's slow. It's not the ideal set but it works. In general, a */storm mastermind works very well for most of PvE. If you want, the envenomed dagger temp power has -regen in it also.
Dark Miasma, Traps, and Poison are quicker at bringing down AVs. Dark Miasma has twilight grasp and howling twilight for -regen. Traps has poison trap for -regen. Poison has envenom for -regen, and noxious gas has an AV mag hold for helping against the hardest targets. Trick Arrow has -regen in the EM Pulse Arrow, but I have a problem with TA in general.

Don't know what it's going to be like later, but I just did the evil/good double missions with my Demons/Storm MM.
Protean just walked off the Freezing Rain patch and stayed off. He'd come close, get hit a couple more times and run away again.
What ended up being more useful was Hurricane and Snow Storm. He basically just slowly chased me around in circles while my demons plinked away at his health. When he did manage to get off a stun on me, he slaughtered my pets before I could do anything. So I had to retreat, resummon, rest up and run back.
Mother Mayhem in Praetoria was easier, as she didn't seem to have an resistance to knock back. I just kept her on her back with gust the whole time.
Those are elite bosses, though. AVs are a whole different ball game.
I think Dark and Poison would be better bets. Poison can neuter a single target quite well, unless they changed it since I last played a poison MM. Dark can neuter targets as well.
Both sets get you -dmg, -regen, slows, -res, -hit, and other goodies.
That is entirely my opinion and has little basis in fact. More of a feeling I get judging by what you get from the sets.

Traps or Poison. You need to kill there regen among other things. Get the temp envenomed Dagger.

I had a 50 thugs/poison mastermind and had a lot of diffuculty soloing AVs when I don't have much with my ninja/dark.

Dark has so much utility between you and fluffy. Also, most of the time you simply don't need the special debuff that weaken provides, so poison is wasted. For example, you hit Statesman with Weaken. He has no defense buffs/debufs, no tohit buffs/debuff, 1 or 2 Mez attacks that won't last long anyway, and no heal (RSF version). So the special debuff of weakon doesn't help at all with the type of AVs that just do a lot of friggin damage. So Why have that when you can have a another pet healing and debuffing for you (and sometimes immobing the AV!).
With Twilight Grasp spam and Darkest Night from you AND fluffy, and then a tar patch to debuff the resistance of the AV, it's just all kinds of win. I will, however, say that poison might be able to kill AVs faster for the simple reason of all the stacking -resistance. However, poison really can't stack as much regen debuff as dark can.
Also, Traps wreck AVs easily.

the only things that stacks in poison is the -regen (ok you can have envenom + noxious) but the recharge is a bit long from the last one...
with dark you have the ability to get 2 tar patches with hasten...
traps is out of competion...because it offers all that you want for killing avs easily...
-1000 regen perma....-dam - res + lots of def for everyone and everything...

I was making a Thugs MM for solo AVs. I was looking for advice on what secondaries would work best. I was thinking of using Storm but is that a bad idea with no -regen?
