Player Voice
Could not only put pitch on a slider, but also have some checkboxes for "filters" that would add a mechanical tone or a creepy occult echo...
Dear NCsoft, if you go through with this shutdown you've guaranteed you'll not see another dime from me on any project you put out, ever.

We we don't ever really TALK do we? It's more of just grunts.
Yea a slider would be great! To make sure you get the right pitch!
Yea all we do is just grunt but we should have variety to the tone for the concept
I've we can do filters and pitch can we choose which of the three sound sets our character pulls from as well?
I played an MMO before that I can't mention that you could choose your voice when you create your toon. the NPC's had voices and explained your missions to you too, but I wouldn't expect that considering the size of some of the missions descriptions we get.
TL;DR meh, DEAN!!! I don't have time for this!
I don't think a "slider" is an option (why is the solution to everything sliders, anyway?), but I do believe we can ask for voice packs in this case. There are several powers and several actions which produce grunts and yells and being able to customize those would be really cool.
I'd go with something like Tough, Smooth, High-Pitched, Monster Growls, Synthesiser Voice, Machine sounds (electric motors, hydraulic pistons, air compressors, etc), Creaking Metal, something along those lines.

I want the option to change my characters voices so badly...
it irks the living daylights out of me that my ultra-tiny avatars make the exact same grunts as their over-sized German Counterparts.
It's like, Hi, I'm an Ultra-Cute Kitty with Ribbons in My Fur and I sound exactly like Frau Bertha Hahgenfossel!
So yes, some more voice options would be welcome. Maybe I should send Paragon Studios a voice sample tape...
I'm definitely on board with this as well. Although my characters don't talk, some of their voices don't seem to fit very well.
And while we're at it, could we add the ability to change what our footfalls sound like? It's very weird that my praetorian clockwork character with metal feet sounds like he's wearing tennis shoes when he runs on pavement.
I did mention like a pack for each genre at first, but also dog sliders. A pack might would be easier. Like I said 10-15 for men and the same for women. It is kinda weird playing a teen with a grown man grunt. Just don't fit the concept. I haven't played many other MMo's so i don't know if they had voice customization but COH is a standout and should be the first to include this
I really miss robotic voice. I have a few robot characters who grunts like humans.

Prunejuice is warriors drink.
Not only grunts, but laughing should make noise too. And screaming and such.
Perhaps this would be more possible to incorporate if the game were to receive a "sound customization" treatment. There's a lot of things other than the few voice bits that I'd like to tinker with to further customize my play experience. For instance one of my robotic characters would be much cooler if my Sprint power had the running sound effects of the MM robots. Being able to change the sound effects on the Dual Pistol powers (along with activating cryo or chem bullets) would make "blaster pistols" much easier to replicate... Yeah, I know the damage types might not be appropriate, but sometimes it's more important for the form to fit the concept than the function.

Generally, when it comes to sound, the two big ones are voice, as used in grunts and yells, and the sound of footsteps, at least on the most common surfaces like concrete and asphalt.
That would go a long way towards making us able to design a much wider variety of characters with less hand-waving. My wrists are cramping up.

With just voicepacks, everyone who selects a given voice pack sounds identical. With the ability to customize (even within a limited scope), it would give a feeling of significantly more diversity.
Another thing to consider is volume. Not how loud it is, but rather how many sound packs we'll get. If they were to add such a feature, I'm 100% certain that there will never be enough to please everybody. There will always be someone to say "Set A is almost perfect for my character but isn't pitched low enough, and Set B is pitched right but the sounds are all wrong. Blah blah blah." Having sliders/filters would enable people to select the sounds they want and get closer to the audio quality that suits their individual characters.
But what sounds do the programmers need to consider when giving voice to our characters? Here's a partial list, feel free to add more (but be reasonable):
* basic grunt (jumping)
* a death cry
* "Yes" and "No" (which can be added to shake head and nod emotes)
* Ready! (for when you hit F7)
* the "Tarzan" noise for when you use that emote or activate the Tough power.
It's a small suggestion, but I want to change the pitch of the voice my characters. It's kinda weird to make a kid hero/villian and he/she has a grown up voice. It should be able to select from when building your character. Should have like 10 male and 10 female voice options, ranging from a kid voice to a deep grown up voice. Place it in the body formation part. Since they don't actually talk this would be used for taunt,jumping,getting up from hits, etc. Like Spiderman don't have a real deep commanding voice but a more high whiney voice unlike Batman who's voice is deep and rough. All women don't have sweet voices. Some have sexy sultry voices,low monotone voices, etc. I know it's kinda tedious and small to ask for this, but I think it'll be pretty cool.
