KM, Brust, PS thougths/idea/question.

I've been happily playing my KM/Elec Armor Scrapper, which is now 39, and I have some thoughts/idea/questions about Burst and Power Siphon.

Small changes to Burst:

  • An increase of the PBAoE from 8ft to 10ft.

Burst with Power Siphon:
  • Add an additional 5ft Energy splash damage radius. (Total radius to 15ft)
    or
  • Increase the Energy damage 15%.

Power Siphon + Burst + 3 Enemies = 1 Damage bonus?

Hypothetically speaking, If you are in the middle of 3 enemies and you hit Power Siphon + Burst and you hit 3 enemies, shouldn't you receive 1 damage bonus from each target hit, for a total of 3 Damage bonus? Additionally, if you already have 3 bonuses, and you hit 3 enemies, then you only receive 2 additional Damage bonuses, you would still be capped at 5...

just throwing this out there.

this is a reason i disliked power siphon and instead rolled a stalker which uses build up lol (and can mass crit with burst from hide)

I might as well ask this question in this thread..

Power Siphon says it can stack 5 times, but the recharge is so long I can't even get it stacked twice unless I am speed boosted, how are you supposed to be able to stack it 5 times?? Mega-purpled recharge IO'd character?

The power itself doesn't stack five times. It simply enables the Siphon buff from your other attacks (minus Repulsing Torrent), and provides a tohit bonus for 20 seconds.

The buffs that are enabled while it is active (ie, the +dam you get from hitting with an attack) are what will stack up to 5 times; they last for 10 seconds each and don't go away when Power Siphon itself wears off.

Not saying PS needs a buff. I saying, Burst needs the buff with and w/o PS.

Slight Radius increase for Burst from 8ft to 10ft. When PS is activated, Burst should receive an additional 5ft foot radius for Energy damage. Making the radius 15ft. Even 12ft would be fine.

It's Power Siphon Damage buffs that stack (not the actual power). I.E. PS + 1 attack = 1 Damage buff (+31.25%). You can get PS to stack, but i think you only receive another +7.50% To Hit.

My attack chain (Scrapper),
Power Siphon -> Quick Strike(1) -> Smashing Blow(2) -> Body Blow(3) -> Quick Strike(4) -> Burst(5) -> Concentrated Strike(6).

Hopefully something is still alive when I get to Con Strike and I land a crit so my PS get auto recharged.

"Concentrated Strike Criticals do not result in extra damage, instead it instantly recharges the Power Siphon/Build Up power. "

For an attack with its recharge, Burst simply doesn't warrant the extra range. All PbAoE attacks that get larger than 8ft radius have longer timers and/or some other kind of non-damage oriented functionality or penalty (or simply comes very late in the set).

Also, balancing-wise, there would have to be a penalty for Burst if it's going to be, activation-wise, the equal of potentially 3 attacks-worth of buff in one.

The Power Siphon model isn't actually modelled around a per hit basis, but as an average buff over time basis for balancing reasons. Allowing Power Siphon to allow more than one buff to apply breaks that buff over time formula completely.

Sorry to dash your suggestion, but the set was built the way it was with very good reason.

No problem, its a discussion.

By comparison the numbers seem to be inline with other scrapper attacks at the same level (18). IE DB - Vengeful Slice, Broad Swords - Whirling Axe. etc etc.

Yeah, I often want to ask for a 10 ft. radius on Burst, but my Whirling Mace is the same 8 ft., so I am used to it.

That being said, ever since they increased the range on melee attacks to 7 ft., it is actually possible to hit something with a single target melee attack and yet miss it with an 8 ft. PBAoE. I presume this is because the PBAoE range starts at the center of your character, whereas the single target attack range starts at the edge of your character. That makes 7 ft. longer than 8 ft.

Scrappers only? A small 2 foot increase for all level 18 powers? I think that would be nice.

Btw this is my 2nd scrapper... I had a bs/shield but wasn't too thrilled with it. I think now cause im actually putting time to it I notice these things a bit more.
