As a general rule, Heroes and Vigilantes earn blue side badges while Villains and Rogues earn red side badges. Yeah Vigilantes and Rogues bend that a lot and can earn most (if not all) the non-accolade badges of the other side.
You can only earn accolades for the side you're presently working for. So to use your example that character would get High Pain Threshold only if he were a Villain or Rogue. So to actually get it assuming you finished earning as a Hero you would need to transition back to Villain.
So depending on the defeat badges you have, it might be quicker and easier just to O portal the accomplishment badge(s) needed and spend an hour or so grabbing the exploration and history badges of the new side.
I have a question relating to but slightly different from the original post.
The situation is that I have a Rogue Brute, and am looking to get "Born in Battle" and "Invader" Accolades, and have noticed that the accolade powers these badges are synonymous with accolade powers granted by "Portal Jockey" and "Atlas Medallion" accolades respectively. I've found in the past that the Hero-flavored badges are easier and more fun to get than the Villain ones.
Now, if I were to turn Hero/Vigilante, and earn these (Portal Jockey and Atlas Medallion) badges, would I be granted the accolade and related powers? Furthermore if I move back to Rogue (via Villain), will I retain the accolade powers as if I had completed "Born in Battle" and "Invader"? The alternate case should then be true as well, but I haven't tested it yet; would I retain the accolade power from "Demonic" when I move to Hero/Vigilante as if I had completed "Archmage"?
I hope I've been clear enough... If not I can try to clarify further.

So yes, when you earn them on heroside, you are granted the Hero powers, and then you can switch back and e given the Villain versions if you think that's easier or more convenient for you.
Note: After switching sides, you will have BOTH powers, but the previous accolades are grayed out. You'll have to put the new accolade powers in your powertray if you want to use them.

What will happen when I get back to villain? Will I keep that badges or will they disappear?
Just interested, because I am going to work on that accolades anyway.

One thing to remember if you are a badge collector is that you will get the accolade when you switch sides, but not the badges needed for the accolade if you didn't already earn them.

If I get all the badges for an accolade -say High Pain Threshold - as a villain, except the debt badge, then switch sides, and then get the debt badge while I'm a hero, will I still get the accolade, or do I have to earn all the badges as a villain before switching?
