Fire/kin melee build?
First off you've gotta ignore Repulsing in your build, I take it as a fun power, but for Fire it's going to ruin Burn.
iirc Leadership is end-heavy, but CJ and Tough/Weave arn't so bad.
Your "high end" attack chain will be mostly Burn & Burst as they're both pbaoe DoTs.
You may want to take fire mastery for the AoE in there, or Mu for the Electric Fences.
You may be able to get the recharge down on Burn and Burst to have them constant, iirc in my Ice/KM/Soul my Burst DoT's constant, other than that your priorites should be regen/hp and enough end reduction or recover to keep the build constant.
Whats your budget?
5 Kinetic Meele sets and 6slots of Obliteration in both Burst and Burn with CJ and Fighting pool may cap you to S/L.
Well this toon is broke but i do have lvl 50s so if i wanted i suppose i could transfer a few mil over servers but is kind of a pain.
Im not rich because i dont farm but getting a few mil isnt that hard for a 50.
I just wasnt sure what to take so i went with the heal at lvl 2 the high damage attack at 4 and the superspeed at 6 and consume at 8.
been out of the game awhile but i used to love using the hero planner when i had it on my old rig, this is a new puter tho..
im not planning on any pvp either jus a nice burn tank for fun in pve.
Stupid windows 7 doesnt support framework 2.0 because my windows is 64 bit so i cannot download the hero planner
What is the cap for S/L? Can you make me a build where i can take the least amount of added powers as possible? I didnt take cj believe it or not i took tough. Im in my 20s and using jet and jump packs until 30 when ill finally get fly.
So far my build is this my build at 20
1. fire shield :4 slotted with 4 impervium armor
1. quick strick : 2 slotted with 2 acc
2. healing flames :6 slotted 2 regenerative tissue and 3 rech 1heal
4. Smashing blow: 2 slotted kinetic combat
6. Kick 2 pounding slugfist
8 Consume : 2 acc
10 Swift : run io
12 Plasma shield 3 slotted 2 resis damage 1 end redux
14 Health :3 heal io
16 Tough: 2 damage resist 1 end redux
18 Burn 1 scirocco
20 Stamina :3 slotted with 3 end modification
This is where i am now...
Was considering..
22 Blazing aura
24 Taunt
26 Power siphon
28 Burst
30 Fly
32 Fiery Embrace
35 Focus burst
38 Concentrated strike
and then going Mu for the Electric Fences, i dont like how mobs run out of my burn. Any advice? Should i dump tough and go another route? I have the 60 month vet rewards so i dont have to take a pre req for fly and i have sands of mu and nemesis staff to fill spots in my attack chain.
Any help appreciated
You should be able to run the framework 2.0, you just need to make sure that you run it as the administrator.
Now, a few tips on your build:
1) Tough could really have been pushed off a bit to get more useful powers earlier.
2) Burn is actually a really good power now, and doesn't cause the enemies to run out of it. It's also mostly front-loaded damage, which is good. This means that you don't have to get a group immob from a Patron Pool just to keep mobs in the burn area.
3) You are likely going to want to get some Steadfast Protection -KB IOs. This will be a big hole for you as a Fire Tanker. Immob, too, unless you plan on using Burn a lot to clear yourself of immobilize effects. This is one of the big reasons people get combat jumping on a Fire Tanker.
4) Healing Flames could probably use some different slotting whenever you get a chance. 5 Doctored Wounds should be enough for that power, which will free up a slot for somewhere else.
The Defense soft-cap (the point at which having more Defense isn't that useful) is 45%. It's going to be tough to get there without dipping into pool powers, if not impossible). Taking Weave and/or Combat Jumping will help a lot.

I tried running as an administrator and it still doesnt work. Not sure what i am doing wrong but it keeps saying it cannot run 64 bit.
What i am wondering is i see some sets that say defense and others say damage resist, if they both help S/L do i need both?
i mean in fire its all damage resist, tough is the only defense set i have, does this make any difference?
what do you think should be my next move blazing aura? Taunt?

Defense makes it so that an attack might not land at all. Resistance means that any hits that do land are reduced in the damage they will do. This means that having both can be useful, because you're both reducing the amount of attacks that hit you, and also reducing the damage of any hits that do get through.
Fire Armor is a resistance-based powerset. It has no inherent Defense powers at all. As such, you might think that getting set bonuses that increase resistance would be the way to go (stacking up resistance versus getting some defense bonuses). However, there are two reasons this would be wrong:
1) Resistance set bonuses are often really small. Despite 1% Defense = 2% Resistance*, the resistance set bonuses are most often smaller than an equivalent defense bonus from another (or the same) set.
2) Stacking types of protection tends to have a multiplicative effect.
Let's take a look at an example. Let's say that you've got 20 minions attacking you, with a 50% chance to hit you, and each attack that lands does 100 damage.
Base, this means that you will be taking 1,000 damage from these minions each time they attack.
If you increase your Defense by 25%, you lower the incoming damage by half, meaning that you take only 500 damage.
Similarly, if you increase your resistance to their damage by 50%, you lower the incoming damage by half, meaning that you take only 500 damage.
If you can get to 25% Defense and 50% Resistance, you will only take 250 damage, or 1/4 of normally incoming damage.
Another benefit of having Defense is that if an attack misses, the secondary effect does too, so that's something to think about as well.

Well. powers are tight right now. Id like to get more defense in the build but ill admit to being a little impatient at wanting my blazing aura+burn+taunt trio going.
That said, should i try and work in cj or weave? Which would be more beneficial to me at this point if i can buy the kb origin would it take more than one to provide adequate resist to immob?
its tricky but looking back up my list what would you take out to get another defensive power?

At the moment, I'd say Combat Jumping will benefit you more.

oh yea sorry i got confused lol.. So many power choices with fire/kin and most other than the knockback attack seem good.
Ive been running test runs of burn in Talos and every group in run up no matter if its Tsoo, Warriors or whatever seems to run the second i click it, very frustrating. I wish i had an immob but the guy who said they dont scatter by it was wrong they do run more often than not they refuse to stay in it.
Burst may cure some of that if its knockdown rate is high but for right now i just wish i knew what to pick next but without a hero planner im a little lost. Cant get it to work yet on my new win 7 rig.
The thought had crossed my mind i could get sets for immob resist and save a power but im also trying to get perma haste for burn n heal.
Maybe i could take out one of the buffs or taunt?

i was fighting equal level mobs, yellows, and oranges.
At 22 and still confused what power to take and what is power siphon? it seems to be similar to siphon power but different.
I cant find a Kin melee guide is there one?
Also, do you believe i need taunt? fiery embrace? should i just bite the bullet and take combat jumping and take out one of those 2?
If you were fighting equal or plus-level mobs, they shouldn't be running away from you, unless it's like that one guy in every spawn that just decides to take off for whatever random reason. If the entire spawn is running from Burn, bug it.
At level 22, I would take Blazing Aura. It's an aggro aura, so will help you perform a Tanking function on a team, and deal decent AoE damage.
Power Siphon gives all of your attacks an additional attribute: a self damage buff for each successful attack, up to 5. Think of it as a reverse build up. Instead of doing lots of damage now, you deal lots of damage after a few attacks. Combined with Fiery Embrace, it will help you deal lots of damage throughout the fight.
There are few Kin Melee guides out there because it's such a new set. Combine that with the fact that few guides get written nowadays, with Mid's being such a good assistance to most people, and you end up with a decent lag time in guides being written after a new set comes out. Still, there should be lots of builds out there with the new set that you could check out, plus several threads about the set in the forums for each AT that got the set.
I would strongly advise getting both Taunt and FE, for various reasons. Not sure what you could drop to get Combat Jumping, but it would help you a lot. Personally, I would push Tough well back in the build, and get Combat Jumping in early.

Im going to try and get my immob resist from sets, with burn i should manage fine. I tried a run of power siphon but found it wasnt good with only 2 kin attacks so i respec out of it, changed a few slots here and there and plan to write my own kin guide.
I believe taking it at 22 is way too early, you want to get burst before you get it otherwise you'd have to take all 3 kin single target hits and you get more bang for your buck using other powers then body blow imo.
One thing i can say about power siphon is the stacked x5 damage (if you can get it) is incredible, i had a speed booster in party and when i could get it stacked i was 1 shot some mobs.
Global recharge seems a priority to keep burn, power siphon, fiery embrace and heal constant.
Keep in mind that Immob Resistance =/= Immob protection.
Getting Immob resistance from sets only lowers the duration of the effect on you. It will NOT stop the effect from occurring.
The recharge thing is what I'm going for, instead of grabbing Tough and Boxing/Kick. If I can find it, I'll like you to a build that I did and got some help on, that focuses on Recharge as a Fire/Kin build. In this way, you get burn, your AoEs, Healing Flames, FE, Power Siphon, etc all back up quicker.

Without tough id be taking some serious damage. I doubt combat jump could get near its smashing and lethal. Wait, what about combat jump and manuevers?
Would that give me close to the same defense and the bonus of immob resist?
Also, the duration on power siphon buff seemed kind of short to me so its probably best to take that power after 30 when you have burst and can make slotting more a priority.
You made a fire/kin melee build?
Ok, I have little to no time with the combo and really haven't built a plan for this kind of toon. I do however have good build building skills and knowledge on how powers work for the most part. I'll build you a plan and explain what I am doing.
As for the mids builder problem, I have had the something happen and know what to do.
Windows 7 is based even more on permission then most windows before it in attempt to combat a lot of viruses. So what you need to do is first, you need to download the program via Foxfire. Then when the download window comes up you need to right click on it and click on open file location. Once there you need to right click on the file and click run as an admin. then it should work... post if you have success or failure.
I go to the location, run as an administrator and it starts to install and then again same error, cannot install on a 64 bit operating system.
Tried by allowing admin access thru properties and hit apply and then started up and the same error again. Do i have the wrong file? Is it framework 2.0 or something else like 2.0 x64?
i saw that file on the bottom is that it?

Ok all I'm going to say holy cow, slotting for def for smashing and lethal is bad, but possible.
I've thought about it a little and decided that unless there's something you don't understand then I wont go into a lot of detail.
First, you got 46% to s/l def which is what a lot of damage is in the game. recharge and damage isn't the best but you got a little plus a lot of procs to fire off at a time. You also have 71% to s/l in resist, which means if you do get hit for s/l you'll take so little damage it will be laughable. Plus with kins -att effect they'll be doing even less damage. No real range to speak of, but you'll be in close range more than anything anyway. Your end drain is ok for having fire, and even better you have consume for end recovery. The real problem is all the IOs required, and alot of Kinetic combats are needed.
You have more than enough KB pro and imm pro. Again any questions I'll post as soon as I see them.
Was wondering if someone can make me a decent fire/kin melee tanker build?
I have the 60 month veteran rewards so please keep in mind i made my toon already and have jet pack and super speed by lvl 8 but wanted a sweet build i can respec into.
Got plenty of respecs and was just looking for a way to get kb protection as fire is weak and what i should do for extra mitigation?
Leadership or combat jump or tough or all of the above?
As i stated before i have the rewards so i start with Sands of mu and Nemesis Staff so im not too worried about the attack chain and i can take travel powers at lvl 6.
Any help appreciated
