Help me become a MELEE CRAB

HELLO, you WUSSES. This is ME:



I am a VERY ANGRY MAN and I plan to become a CRAB SOLDIER! However, as I am not a PANSY I will become a MELEE CRAB. What kind of COWARD would use RANGED ATTACKS when they have eight GIANT METAL ARMS grafted to their back? NOT ME, that's for sure. I am not picking a Bane because they HIDE from their victims like TINY, SCARED CHILDREN. Now, I do not have time to create a build for my Crab as I am too busy PUNCHING A RIKTI IN THE JAW, so I have turned to you BABIES hiding behind your computers instead of doing healthy press-ups like MEN. You WILL tell me if my DEATH-FILLED VISION is viable (if you say no I will ENTWINE YOUR INTESTINES ON A FORK you MAGGOT) and, IF you feel you are up to this task, you WILL provide me with a build outlining the general IO's and other items I will need to requisition. I will not buy these, instead I will BEAT THEM FROM MY ENEMIES with my BARE HANDS.

I loved your introduction so much that I decided to whip something up for you.
This is, however, a PURE melee crab build, since I guessed that's what you wanted. And now you might say "Then why the venom grenade?". I'll tell you why: it's an amazing AoE resistance debuff, that debuffs your enemies' resistance by 20%, meaning you will deal 20% more damage to those enemies, regardless of your current damage boost levels.
As with all builds, it is open for moving around powers, changing some slots here and there, but it has respectable Defense numbers (40%/37.9%/26.3%) and a near permanent Serum, meaning you can have 50% more health most of the time. That along with good recharge rates, you'll be able to have Hasten up with a 10 second downtime, well, hopefully you'll enjoy it.

Great intro Duncan! But might I point something out, even though we see what you are going for, and trust me it does sound very nice at the concept of a straight-melee crab, but truth is Bane's hit extremely, extremely hard. I have a 50 crab with a second build being a bane build so I can vouch for it (at least a little bit) .

Maybe make hide as being a "I'm-to-awesome-for-you-too-see-me-before-I-crush-your-face" power? That's how I used it >.>

Like Sole is saying, a Bane is just better for Melee, but this is s the best I could come up with for a melee crab, and it is amazing, concept-wise. Not sure I'd want you on my team though, running straight in with your arms flailing ;p

Haha, not deliberate, I was just trying to fit in the leadership toggles. Here I have removed the Omega Maneuver, moved back the slots, and softcapped your melee defense (45%)

EDIT: The build's most expensive part would be the LotG: Recharges which go for about 200 mill each, but you don't HAVE TO have those, although they are nice. Touches of Death don't come cheap either, about 10-20 mill for each piece

This is more of a focus on being able to tankish and fightish

You have Serum on nearly permanent (2 seconds downtime)

Spiderlings are permanent so they can blast while you get in the thick of it.

Call reinforcements has 2 minutes of downtime.

You have soft capped defences to all positions and strong resistances.

Attack chain is venom grenade AOE as you leap into the center, Frenzy, then Arm Lash and go through your ST attack chain.

I didn't bother much with the order of powers so feel free to move around whatever you want. Yes Stamina needs to be earlier but it wasn't what I was interested in showing.

Gladiator Armour isn't so bad now that you have Hero/Villain merits. A few short missions each day and in 2 months you have it. Presently my main has 5 merits any my alts are building up them as well. by the end of next month or mid-the-one-after I'll have three Gladiator's Armour +def with a fairly minimal amount of work.

Bothering with the order of powers is always key in a build. Because most of the time people aren't asking for a respec build, but rather a levelling build, and with that the only thing that's important is the levels you take the powers at. And two months is more "expensive" to me than 1 billion +

Not sure why you are so upset about having to actually move an attack which is inconsequential, but you are entitled to your opinions.

PS: It appears your build is a 'follow this through every step and do not deviate' whereas mine is 'here's a concept to build for and do it your own way'. I just wanted to display that high recharge/high defence is very very good for a melee crab so you can get permanent minions, permanent serum and capped defences.

Well, it's more of a build centering on his wishes (all melee) mixed in with a few key powers that I think he should have, and placing these key powers at an as early level as possible for it to have maximum use and not be so much hurt by exemplaring.

And as with all builds, it's not a bible, but rather a guideline. I am not deciding for him what he wants to have, as this is not the crab build I would make.
