In my opinion, if you only play the one 'best' or 'most uber' kind of character, you're missing the whole point of the game. Your loss. I'm going to continue trying out all sorts of weird, unlikely combinations and having fun.

It doesn't matter. Anything you make will be reduced to something that's not as powerful and fun as you liked.
So...
Probably best for you to make something that is in need of some improving...
That way it will become more powerful over time and you won't quit it and need to post on the forums to ask what is the current most powerful toon to make!

Make something that you enjoy playing otherwise it's probably a waste of your time. Another useful tack to take would be to find something that is supposed to be "bad" and make it work, very well, for you (presuming you like a challenge). When I made my only lvl 50 tanker, it was because everyone said electric armor was useless. I've got her nearly exclusively on Single Origin enhancements right now and usually when I die... it's because I hit agro cap (often twice over) and nobody else is left standing to fix the problem.

No, not because the character is lizard-like, but since some find typing character to be a nuisance, I will antiquate the long form further by making it even harder to type... and being a fast typing curmudgeon, why not?? 
Also, I don't mind what people call their avatars.
I don't get bothered by words that some choose.
My pineapple leveled to 30 in one go in the dinkydong lounge. I still haven't left tortoiseville. I don't even know where the coconut is if I wanted to leave!!
